"Wow dude you're playing like shit"

LoL esports was shocked by today as a player suddenly became better than all of SKT himself. Jimmy Smithson, age twenty, was playing at a bronze level when his teammate said "wow jimmy you're fucking trash". This caused his reaction time to sharpen by over a thousand percent, provoking Jimmy to dethrone faker as the best league player in the world. "I wish people had told me I'm garbage at this game and autistic. It unlocked my latent abilities and caused me to evolve as a person," Jimmy said, crackling with energy and glowing hair as he held aloft the corpse of a defeated Faker.

Except this doesn't happen in the real world.

I know I'm playing badly. You know I'm playing badly. The team can see I'm playing badly.

Pointing out every single flaw I make and saying I'm shit isn't going to magically make me play better. People suck. People have bad games. Calling them out on it won't fix anything.

There's a huge difference between "Go kill yourself you piece of shit, who the hell doesn't buy boots?" and "Try buying boots later, Vayne c:" Unfortunately, many people assume that the first one is considered civil advice, and choose to ignore the second option, where you don't make your team mate who, GASP is also another person feel bad, who you would never, ever, ever insult as badly in real life as you would behind a keyboard. People are toxic because they don't have to deal with the situation in real life, and are selfish and don't think about how the other person could feel.

Supreme Senpai6924 votes

I just don't offer advice anymore lol. People get insanely toxic and even start to intentionally feed sometimes when you say things like "Hey Ezreal, Triforce and IBG don't stack." League players are just really fucking weird sometimes

Avios14 votes

They don't stack, but he gets 200% instead of 75% If I recall correctly.

I could be wrong though.

Primary target will get hit with Triforce damage, + Iceborn slow and Iceborn damage will be dealt to everyone else in the area. Please don't buy multiple Spellblade items though.

nice table2 votes

how does lichbane + tri work?

Wheatloaf3 votes

It should take whichever one does more damage. So, Triforce damage until you get enough AP to outweigh it. But if you're buying that much AP I'm not sure what triforce is doing in your build, other than testing this interaction.

Some people take it badly. I was in a game with a gold 3 Zed. (I'm B1) we were against a very heavy tank focused enemy team. The zed rofl stomped the early game but started to feed during mid and late. I suggested he buy a black cleaver for the extra health and the added damage to the tanks. It would let him do more damage and kite them more easily. We ended up losing because he refused to listen to my bronze one trash ass. Little did we know. The enemy too laner was a D1 smurf who told zed the same shit I did in post lobby chat.

People don't always listen to friendly advice :/ especially if they're higher elo than you or they're on their main.

Parceval4 votes

Offering advice to a person who is not in a place to readily accept it still does not improve the situation.

As you grow older you'll find yourself in many situations, both personally and even at work, where this is true.

Sometimes people simply aren't ready to hear it (just like you may not be if the tables were turned), and offering it only insults and exacerbates the situation. The best option, truly, is to say nothing.

Of course it's not going to make you play better... but then again, your future performance is already irrelevant in the eyes of your accuser.

What IS relevant, is the sense of gratification for the offending teenager in question.

And in today's materialistic culture of pursuing unbridled instant gratification, that's simply what some people will continue to do (until of course, they burn their hand with a chat restrict / ban).

I've had people say this shit when I am 11/3 on a 5 kill spree and have dealt the second most damage while tanking the most damage [effectively winning all of our fights by participating] and having 70% kill participation. Kids on this game are just rude as shit and riot doesn't punish them because they make money.

Hethalean8 votes

I find mostly that people calling people bad is not about the other player knowing their bad.

It's about a release of frustration. It is some sort of catharsis for them to know they made someone else feel shitty. Putting someone else down somehow lifts them up.

They're angry and they need to let it out.

kmathieu22202 votes

I feel like you almost nailed it. My issue is that if I ever let out "Dude wtf are you doing" type of comment it isnt because I'm trying to make myself feel better or even trying directly to put them down but itss when I held it in for most of the game and I just need to get out my frustration

OMGSoAnnoying7 votes

Not only that, but if someone has been crushed in lane, they're going to be behind. Let them get back into the game. They'll need farm to do so, and likely won't be relevant in team fights at all for the next 10-15 minutes... particularly if they're ADC, because that's the most common gang bang lane atm along with being the most gold-reliant champion.

Don't bitch if your one-item ADC somehow can't do anything versus their three-item ADC. No shit. They're behind. And they know it. Bitching won't solve a goddamn thing.

Actually BE a team mate, let your behind people get back into the game. If they're clearing a major minion wave, let them get it, they need it more than you do. If your jg is behind, let him get his small camps, particularly birds and krugs (birds give the most exp and second most gold, krugs give the most gold).

The ironic thing is flaming your teammates and tilting them is a pretty good way to throw games. Anyone who throws games is--- can you guess where I'm going with this? Bad.

HalcyonDweller7 votes

In fact, "Pointing out every single flaw" doesn't just not fix anything, it can also have other effects on the game.

  • Wasting time typing at teammates to tell them they suck usually means the flamer is not doing something else productive. Ergo the flamer is dead weight on the team too.

  • Repeatedly telling teammates negative things usually tilts them harder and further increases chances of defeat.

you people have this mentality that goes "omg i can accept anyone telling me i am bad"

Hear me out here you are in my game ok maybe for just one game but in that game i try to win you may enjoy stay in bronze silver gold or what ever elo you are but i dont i want to be diamond so what i do? i try to win i put an effort to win the game

You dont you just feed troll desrtroying the game and you have the mentality that this is cool somehow...

Well no its not cool i dont care if you are bad i dont care if you are tilted you choose to play ranked games you will play normally and if you are bad stay under your turret and wait the jg feeding and desttroying the game for people who put effort to win the game will cause outrage on you

And you think this is wrong? if you think that then may as well never go to work or school or out of your house because if you do anuything bad in those 3 situation (work/school/sport) you wll get kicked and humiliated by a BOSS or A PROFFESOR or A TRAINER and guess what there is no tribunal there or punish system to "report" them they will humilate you and they will KICK YOU OUT and you know what you will do? you will just go home and cry..like you do right now in boards

Yeah league is not that important as the real life but its a step of understanding that if you destroy other people effort they will get mad with you

So what you will do in real life? you will shut up and you will try harder i am pretty sure you will not make a "joke" about jimmy on your boss when he shit on you for doing retarded things in his office right? no...you will shut up and you will try your best after he throw a shitstorm on you

So how about use that logic in everything in your life even in league?

It may help you grow up..

ModCaptainMårvelous9 votes

So this is a pretty clear counterargument but, unfortunately, you're making a strawman here. It was never about "Nobody should ever tell me I'm bad".

Notice how I didn't use actual criticism in my post? I didn't have people saying "Hey, you're low, you should go back" or "Listen, you're diving too much, try to play safer". That's because those are valid, warrant criticisms. There's nothing wrong with that type of criticism. What -I'm- referring to here is the stupid, blatant, unhelpful criticism that doesn't actually do anything.

Example: You lambast someone for missing smite. "Omfg how could you miss smite". Yeah. No shit sherlock. They're just as aware as you are that they missed smite. Brilliant criticism and biting commentary on the state of league dude. Missing-ping-spamming someone when they die because they overextended. Yelling at them because they missed/got hit by a skillshot.

If we're using examples of the real world, there's always aspects of critique and criticism you separate: You separate the good, logical, sound and overall thoughtful criticisms into things you should look into when improving whatever you do. The ones that usually get thrown out are the people going "you're shit, your work is shit and you will never be good". Let's not pretend those two criticisms are in the same camp.

And really..."destroying effort"? Part of life is learning to moderate and mediate your emotions when dealing with projects otherwise nobody will want to work with you. It goes both ways man.

For all the posturing about "growing up", this argument seems immensely juvenile.

Kudrov2 votes

your whole point is flawed since you didn't take in aco%%%% that maybe when peoples throw stuff like : you're shit, your work is shit, you will never be good etc.. maybe its not criticism at all ... its just the fucking thruth in your case.

Enough with the candy coating shit. You wouldn't be on these boards if they were saying "great job, or gj, or ur a god mid". Nope. Being positive is completely fine but being negative is taboo. Grow the fuck up. The road goes in both directions and light follows dark, its called balance, learn to fucking deal with it. You play well then you should know it. You play like shit then you should know it too.

Calling them out after checking their KDA is completely justifiable as well. If they have a shit KDA and are playing a carry role and feeding like a bitch then they deserved to be called trash, autistic, a fucking moron, shitty, and anything else. I mean I am trying to rank the fuck up and some moron comes into ranked with a 1 KDA and 2 ranked games played on ziggs and proceeds to feed well then they deserve the harassment because they screwed me by playing ranked in the first place.

To be honest, it isn't their fault that Riots shit matchmaking uses MMR instead of REAL FUCKING DATA!!! It's shitty Riots shitty fucking fault. Then I get in trouble for telling them how it is. Stop being a fucking baby.

Lucian Waifu3 votes

There are correct ways are calling out people doing badly, and you don't understand even the basics of that. You are showing that you are most likely the autistic kid shouting and cursing at your teammates because you don't understand social dynamics and actually being a human being instead of an insecure bully. So, according to you, every single player has been trash, autistic, a moron, and everything else, that also includes you. You deserve to be reported and you deserve to never play this game, not until you learn what it means to be a good person first.

Plus you have no right to say anything, you are barely silver 5, which is glorified bronze. You are just luckier than the players who you insult.

Sozan52 votes

There are correct ways are calling out people doing badly

No. There are not.

If someone plays poorly you can bet they are perfectly aware of that. Calling out on that can only tilt them and I've never seen it making anyone play better.

(that's not to say I've never flamed anyone, because it happened quite a few times (usually when the player played REALLY poorly and was flaming others), but I try to do my best to avoid that).

Lucian Waifu3 votes

Doesn't mean you can't tell them what to do better, hopefully not build-wise. As long as you are mid gold or lower you can tell a player what he/she is doing wrong mechanically or the team as a whole and not directly address that player and hopefully they understand that and try to adjust their play. I have done this plenty of times and have helped them or the team as a whole do better afterwards.

Sozan53 votes

Well, then it's not calling out them being bad. It's telling them how to improve, which is not the same thing. ^_^

Lucky my ass. I put time into practicing and play a shit ton of games.

A good person? A good person is a person that doesnt play ranked with a shit KDA or first time champ. A good person is one that when you ask them to stop feeding they actually listen and stop feeding. A good person is one that knows how to rotate when needed. If you cant do these simple fucking things then you are not a good person in my book. You see your perspective on what a good person is and mine are not the same so don't push ur idealistic nonsense on me. Get good or I will tell you ur not good using any WORDS that I choose too.

I understand the difference between a good person having a bad game and a moron. If your the latter than you deserve to hear it.

From my experience, people act much nicer if you just say "yeah sorry I derped" after they blame you for something. Sometimes they don't, but then I just mute them and report them afterwards.

I think most people feel insecure and think that the others don't know who's fault something is and will blame said person unless he makes sure everyone knows that it was the other person's fault. If you as the other person take the blame on yourself (even if it's not at all your fault), they'll feel relieved and less pressured because if it fails, the blame is not on their shoulders.
