Why can't we get ad carry items that have a significant amount of cdr?

Critkeeper··2 votes·449 views

Zephyr and ghostblade are the only options, and they only grant 10%

Why can't we get a carry item that grants 20%?

Tanks have a high cdr option in frozen heart.

Mages have a high cdr option in morellonomicon and unholy grail.

Supports have a high cdr option in talisman and zekes.

Why can't marksmen and melee carries have a high cdr option?

Because an AD carry with high AS, AD, AND CDR would be freaking ridiculous. Edit I forgot to mention, you could always get the CDR boots :D

If ADC's wanted CDR, then they would buy Lucidity instead of Berserkers.

ADC's don't have 20% CDR buys because they aren't needed or wanted. CDR enhances your spells; what does a class dependent on autoattacks need CDR for?

for spells to augment or enhance their ability to auto attack

for example to remove the downtime on tristana's q or to make twitch's ultimate available more often.

CDR is useful on anybody. Even marksmen.

Tristana has one of the strongest attack speed steroids in the game, which currently has no mana cost. If the cooldown was reduced so that you could cast it all the time, she would be so horribly overpowered. Not to mention she has the highest attack range (with no skills) at level 18.

Twitch's ult gives him the highest auto attack range in the game, as well as bonus attack damage, not to mention making his autos targeted AOE pierce through. Again, he would be horribly overpowered if he could have this up all the time.

Marksmen are balanced so that their skills are used at the appropriate time, their focus is auto attacking. Other champions are reliant on spells to deal damage, marksmen are not.

No doubt CDR is useful on everybody. So is every other stat in the game. Items are balanced so you have to make the choice between what stats are more vital to the success of your champion.

For melee carries, if they build defensive, they have options such as Kindlegem or Glacial Shroud. If they build pure offense, they still have Brutalizer for a little CDR. If they keep building damage, well, their autos will be doing tons of damage and they won't need damage from spells as much. It's all about game balance, my friend.

If you want CDR on a marksman, try Nashor's Tooth on AP Trist. Not sure how much success you'll have though.
