Dont you think that tank as a role needs a rework

I dont mean that tanks are bad atm but lets look at the facts 1 tanks are durable 2 tanks provide cc and utility 3 tanks dont provide the damage

is it only me or we already have such a class if its not ringing any bells its supports, but tanks arent fit for laning cause they cant trade, nor they are fit for the jungle ause well they cant trade and will get invaded, gutted, and eventualy denied acces to their own jungle

judging by this rather simple logic its rather clear to me that tank archetype is already taken and doesnt work, supports work with others , tanks cant lane with others cause supports do it better and they cant jungle cause they need someone to be with them and do the damage while they cc (they need a guy to capitalize on what are they giving) thats why i think that tanks should realy get their own archetype, guys like sejuani nautilus, zac are just supports to be honest

when i hear tank i usualy think about something slow heavy and packing a punch (look at the new cinematic naut) and i think that its a goot spot to place them cause we dont have such a role atm, we have fighters who are all about outperforming, they have usualy wersatile kits providing everything (jumps, dashes, cc's, steroids, nukes, aoe, executes, the pool is big) we have supports who man up the cc and utility, marksmans who man up the autoatacks, mages who handle magic dmg and are realy versatile, and the assasins who are sneaky bastards, there is no real tank in league maybbe besides a volibear, but he starts as a bruiser who just builds realy tanky

Aatrox Alistar Amumu Blitzcrank Braum Cho'Gath Darius Dr. Mundo Galio Garen Hecarim Jarvan IV Leona Malphite Maokai Nasus Nautilus Olaf Rammus Renekton Sejuani Shen Shyvana Singed Skarner Trundle Udyr Urgot Vladimir Volibear Warwick Wukong Zac

All tanks, all with different kits, all with different uses, all good in different situations. Also, they all tank in different ways. Warwick is a drain tank that lifesteals back the damage you deal. Wukong makes you waste ignite on his clone. Udyr and Skarner will spam shields to mitigate your damage. Mundo has too much regen. Sejuani will have 6k hp late game and slow the enemy down so they must hit her first. All kinds of weird variation and tanking ability.

Don't really agree with your argument that league doesn't have tanks, and that "tanks don't work". I'd argue that tanks aren't getting outperformed either by other roles, they just have different jobs. I had a Sejuani jungle game last night where my 17-5-5 vayne called me "heavy" after I carried her through a lost lane, tanked 43k dmg from enemy champs while making sure the enemy team couldn't touch her late game in team fights, and ended the game 1-3-16. Pretty sure we would have lost the game if I didn't do my job and peel for her. I think that generally players don't understand that different tanks have different roles/jobs in different team comps, and that you need to pick your tank situationally to counter the other team and form a cohesive strategy for victory.

TL DR; Tanks are in a good place, and need to be picked situationally just like every other role in LoL.

There are five places Riot puts power in a champions kit.

Damage is simple. Moves dedicated purely to damage or steroid abilities are a chunk of a champions power budget

Defense, including defensive steroids and natural sustain, are a second point where power is added.

CC, useful to lock down an enemy on offense or defense , has pretty much the harshest "exchange rate " of any item.

Utility is the sustain, boosts, and shields used to keep allies alive-these abilities pay extra when compared to "selfish" boosts or steroids as they can synergize with an ally for multiplicative power.

Finally, mobility provides safety or engage power.

The kit of a tank provides Defense, Mobikity and CC. The kit of a support provides primarily cc and utility.

A support/= a tank, though tanks can be played as supports.
