One of the components received a cost reduction of 75 gold, so the old 3 gold upgrade cost became 78. I doubt they have any intention of making Triforce cheaper.

I was honestly thinking they were gonna boost the combine price up to 333g when I first saw the component cost reduction. It'd make sense and still hold the easter egg, even more so then.

The original combine cost was 300g. When people stopped buying Trinity Force for Iceborn Gauntlet (due to the item being better in general, prior to Trinity Force's damage proc being buffed to 200%) they reduced the combine cost to 3g to further incentivize people buying it.

Also I don't believe 3 gold is that important. If you are down the 3 gold you can wait 1 second.

I think "Trinity Force's 3 gold combine cost" is their in-game joke and 78 gold is not really intentional. Just like The Brutalizer's total cost being 1337 gold instead of 1350 or something.

It was a nice little easter egg, and it really supported not having to waste your time with one of the third items if you didn't need it. It may be less so now, but to be honest, there is little reason to change it back.
