How do I lane against syndra?

Hyrum Graff··2 votes·1,461 views

There are a lot of champs that I have a hard time against. But against all but one of them, I know what I did wrong, and what I could do to improve. Against a good syndra, however, regardless of what champ I'm playing, I have no idea what to do.

  • I try to harass her and she wins all the trades
  • I try to turn it into a farm lane but she either zones me really hard or puts enough harass on me to kill me
  • I try to all-in her and she just pushes me away

The only champ that I can do decently with against a syndra is Karma, and that's just because I can harass and farm with q from outside the range of everything but her stun, which I can position around. However, I don't want my ability to lane against a champ be dependent on me playing a single champ (what if karma is banned?)

Any tips?

Don't let her use the whole lane, her stun initiates out from her so if you are to the left or right of her orbs instead of in front of them she loses all of her CC.

Don't let her use the whole lane,

I'm not sure what "Don't let her use the whole lane" means?

her stun initiates out from her so if you are to the left or right of her orbs instead of in front of them she loses all of her CC.

I usually don't get hit with a stun from a ball that's lying on the ground. But I have no clue how to dodge this combo:

  • Form ball (anywhere)
  • Pick ball up
  • Form 2nd ball between syndra and opponent
  • Throw 1st ball to the side of 2nd ball
  • Blast out, hit syndra's opponent with one of the two balls

As soon as you see her form a ball move to the left or right of it - the ball actually has a really long form time and you need to dodge the q damage anyway.

If she's loaded up on W, try and bait it out - the ball has to land before she can e so if you rush melee range she will either blow the w but have the ball too far behind you for the stun, or she will blow her e for the knockback meaning all she has left is the w slow.

Also, Syndras mobility is legendary bad, let her push, ganks, profit.

When I say dont let her use the whole lane, I mean dont give her the opportunity to abuse her long poke range (q -> e) bu making her skillshots easier - the further you are the easier it is to hit you because she just has to fire "forward in your general direction"

If you're mobile, dive on her because syndra can't deal with people in melee range of her very easily. Also try your best to dodge her skillshots, especially her stun. That's basically all you can do. If you have a poking champ, poke her down and dodge her skillshots as best as you can. You probably wont out farm her as she's super easy to farm with after a chalice.

Play Lissandra. Simple as that. She has horrible sustain, therefore you can poke her out of lane as Lissy.

I main Syndra and I bring along summoner 4 summoner 12 for the purpose of rushing to grab items such as item 3070 as my first back when I hit 700g the moment Syndra can grab that is pretty much when she can sustain in lane almost 24/7 because she is mana dependant you need to kill her ASAP in which you would need your jungler to get their buffs and camp your lane and ensure you kill her otherwise you'll just have to rely on either the jungler if your melee and its possible to punish her early especially with Qs from Lux, Morgana, Karma and other CC champions. Because this will allow a fairly easy gank from your jungler. I can't really give out proper advice only that you will be hugging your lane and your farm will have to be mainly from the wraith camps (minus the large one for your item 3160 Jungler) In the end it is just your positioning and how well you and the player utilizes the champion. I'd recommend Magic Resistance Glyphs to defend against her orbs in the beginning of course.

If u have somewhat long range poke abilities, that will help. When you can do when she tries to stun you is pivot around her. If you get used to dodging like that, you can dodge the stun before she tries to use it. Also when she uses her e, she just lost her only peel. Buying zhonyas is a great way to counter her ult too.

Step 1: Learn Yasuo

Step 2: Use Wind Wall

Step 3: Profit

You can still form spheres behind the wind wall.

I tried yasuo once, against bots, and fed horribly. I should add it helped me face yasuos in lane immensely.

I can show you how to play Yasuo next time we play :D

You have to pick someone who does one of the following things:

Outtrades her: Leblanc(Silence her before she stuns you), Fizz(You have to use your e to dodge the stun, and stay out of ult range untill it's off cooldown again),

Outscales her and survives the lane: Orianna(Shove, shield and farm wraiths), Ziggs(Same as Orianna),

OutPushes her and roams better: Twisted fate(Take mr runes for pre lv 9)

Build sustain and outfarm her. That sounds undoable but Syndra burn through mana extremely quickly if she wants to farm, and her only form of actual cc has a long CD.

I typically choose ranged mages like Lux to counter Syndra. If you can subdue her early game, she usually has trouble winning lanes.
