Doran's stacking , Yay or Nay?

So, after seeing Rengar vs Vasili , I happened to have a game where I was feeding horribly as Twitch+Nidalee botlane against Twitch+Thresh. I thought I might as well try the same thing and see what happened. The result was a 1v1 victory against a 4/0/1 Twitch with Zerker's, cutlass and 1 dagger, while I had Boots+4 doran blade.

I know, when you stack more than 3 doran's you really lose a lot of gold for your lategame dominance, but it basically means that, no matter how horribly you were beaten, you can make a comeback.

I guess the most common concern was about the situation where a lane bullies uses Doran's stacking (wether rings or blades) to consolidate his early advantage against a lategame champion. Things like Double Doran Renekton.

It's not a easy matter, as Doran's stacking has some pro in terms of strategy as it does allows for comebacks at the cost of postponing your build.

However, what's your view on the matter?

every dorans you buy is 440 less gold to your final build, it fills up your inventory making it impossible to buy pieces to new items and really isnt worth much after 10 minutes.

item 1038 1 item slot - 45 ad - 1550g

3xitem 1075 3 item slots - 240 hp - 24 ad - 1320g

at that point a pickaxe and a ruby crystal would get you the same thing and they'd actually upgrade into something. plus with boots and 4 dorans that only leaves you with 1 item slot, if you pick up a bf or a vamp scepter you'd have to sell something to make room or save up ridiculous amounts of gold to make another purchase.

dorans doesnt keep you in the lane longer, if youre hurting for gold then go vampscepter -> cutlass its a cheaper route than buying a bf for bt and youll actually be making meaningful purchases

If I'm behind, I start stacking dorans items (this is more so in dorans rings, I usually never get more than 2 dorans blades)

IMO, it is simply a troll build. Someone making what is in my mind a bullshit build, regardless of who they are/ what they know is simply troll.

I would never buy more than 1 outside of 3v3, where starting off with 2 is sometimes the best option. But never more than 2.

I don't think there's any champs I'd start with doran's anymore. :\
