Does Lux need a small buff?

May not be the most exact category for this post but here goes.

So as most people know, Lux is a long range burst mage. That's fine, and I am content with every champ having certain drawbacks. Lux's drawbacks include a high chance of death when your spells are on CD or if your opponent dodges any one of your skillshots (which is every spell). In the late game, her weakness isn't that bad, however during the early game she is arguably the weakest and most one dimensional champ you can use in the mid lane.

She has a fairly high CD without any CR, and her spells aren't particularly cheap either. You can't build a sustain Lux without heavily compromising her AP, and since her AP doesn't scale that hard compared to other similar mages, I just don't see how she is viable in the early game.

She gets consistently outbattled against any melee mid champs (ie. Yasuo, Akali, Kassadin) and doesn't really hard counter any champ either (other than maybe Annie).

The annoying thing about her is that you can't just hug a tower or something because she relies so heavily on items. Couple this with her relatively low MS and she is not hard to gank, considering her skillshots are not hard to dodge.

Just my two cents, so in conclusion I'd like to see something along the lines of this:

  • +5 base MS increase to 335
  • +20 base HP increased to 444

OR

A small tweak in her passive Lucent Singularity remains the same, except for granting +10 MS for 2 seconds when it is ignited by a basic attack

In the grand scheme of things it's a pretty small buff, especially in the late game where she holds more presence. These minibuffs would help her in the laning phases and make her more viable against any champ with a dash (eg. Zed, Akali, Yasuo, Jarvan, etc.)

Thoughts?

First, when Lux's MS was nerfed, there was two primary concerns: 1) Lux was too safe in teamfights, 2) Lux was too safe from ganks, therefore any buffs should try to steer clear from these two areas.

So while I do agree that something involving the passive would be a good place to start as it is gated by autoattack range, I'm not sure the additional mobility is the right direction.

Side Note: Live Balance is the sub-community you're looking for.

If they were to give Lux a buff, I'd recommend something a little closer to giving her more reward to risk getting closer rather than improving her already annoyingly safe play margin.
