What is the point of giving leblanc a tether that roots after 1.5 seconds

If it also slows and the only way to break the tether is to move out of its range. Its 1000 range.

Who in the hell can move 1000 range in 1.5 seconds while slowed by 25%?

Active: LeBlanc flings illusionary chains in a line towards a target location. If it hits an enemy unit, it will deal initial magic damage and leash to it, slowing their movement speed by 25% while the leash remains.

If the target remains within 1000 units for the full 1.5 seconds, the target takes additional magic damage and is rooted for 1.5 seconds.

It's to make her less feast-or-famine.

Consider a LeBlanc who got camped and is now underleveled and underfarmed. Without her tether, she's be pretty much useless. She'd go in and deal pitiful damage without killing anybody, then have nothing to do.

With a tether, she has some utility: she can go in, deal some damage to a target, and root them, so her team can follow up for the kill.

I honestly think the root is fine in her kit; it's the silence that I think is anti-fun.

Most champions that are not mele? I mean, you only really have to move like 400...

Certain champions have gap closers to escape it. You could also consider flashing to get out of the situation.

At least riot gives you a chance for certain champions to escape and it is not an instant root. Why complain about it?

Ah, this is a topic I have wondered about myself for quite some time. Really since LeBlanc is an assassin her kit is made to help her run up and kill quick while getting out of there. The tether is an ability that can be used for an engage, cleanup, or aid in an escape so in all honesty it adds some utility to her as a champ. If she goes in and bursts but her enemy does not die she can tether and begin to walk away and just let the tether finish the job for her. It also helps initiate teamfights so truly her tether is mostly added utility once it's all said and done. It just depends on how it is used.

Mostly everything they said is true, but iirc correctly, you can tether, throw your q, and then have the silence apply on the second proc of the tether, effectively disabling them for a much longer time.
