How does everyone feel about Ignite?

I don't think we talk about Ignite enough. Everyone just accepts it as is right now. So how do you guys feel?

I personally wish it didn't exist. I don't like it from the get-go. Free true-damage just for pressing one key? Is that necessary? It's just boring. There is no difference between a good ignite and a bad one. Damage is damage. Being point & click, it takes no skill to apply it either.

Exhaust is an example of an offensive summoner done correctly. It promotes skillful usage and timing. A good exhaust will catch Jax midair in his Q and shut down his massive burst. It will force you to make meaningful decisions between who you value as a target for your exhaust. Do you wait for Fiddle to ult or do you go ahead and throw it on the Zed who is jumping your carry?

Ignite though? You just ignite the guy you're attacking so he dies a little faster. Unless Mundo is in the game, in which case you just ignite him regardless. So little thought process, zero player interaction, zero interest in this ability.

I think we need a new offensive summoner. Idk what it'd be, but ignite is just bad. Lets make Grievous Wounds a little more accessible to AD champions (Executioner's Calling is AWFUL, but Morellonomicon is just fine even if you don't care much about Wounds) so we still have an answer for Mundo/Vlad/Soraka heal etc.

I disagree here. There's skill in using ignite. Like exhuast, it's all about timing. Do you use it early, so they can't heal effectively during combat, or do you wait until they're low, to finish them off? The first scenario obviously gives you the greatest benefit, but you also risk letting them know that you're going all-in, and giving them time to back out.

Exhuast -snip-

Exhaust is a defensive summoner, most of the time, though. Its only true "offensive" use is when you're chasing someone or engaging on them, so they have a harder time running away.

Greivous wounds should honestly be removed from the game. As long as it exists, you're forced into one of the following scenarios:

  1. Healing is balanced without thinking about GW. Therefore, when there's no GW, it's balanced, and when there is GW, it's super weak, making it feel horrible to be a healer. In this case, there's no reason for anyone to want to play a healer.
  2. Healing is balanced with thinking about GW. Healing is stronger, so it feels OK even if there are GW. But now if GW can't be applied, healing is OP, and feels bad to play against. In this case, everyone hates healers 'cause they're hella OP. This is closer to what league is right now.

If you remove GW, then healing can be mildly annoying, but not OP, while still feeling satisfying to the healer.

You've got a better chance, probably. Do threads on GD really close just b/c of downvotes?

I think you're over thinking this, and I'm not surprised your thread was closed from downvotes honestly. There isn't anything wrong with ignite, and some of the points you make are just blatantly wrong.
