Does this reddit style crap encourage extremely long posting?

This isn't a serious complaint (as I'm pretty much just not going to read anything with more than 3 paragraphs) but it honestly seems like this transition to reddit style just brings out the worst in us. No one seems to be able to say anything concisely. Half the topics here can't be read fully without scrolling down.

Why do you guys talk so much? Why does anyone spend time reading all that crap anyway?

I think in large part it has to do with the community. The same type of person who's interested in beta testing - because let's be clear, that's still what this is - is the type of person who's liable to have long, analytical thoughts.

The type of person who's interested in summaries and being concise, is just going to stay with GD until the majority of people have switched over.

On the upside, while the OPs may be long, the nested view, sorted by votes, is nice for getting a sense of the conversation pretty quickly.

...Why are you on a forum at all if you don't want to spend time reading crap?

If you've run into any of my posts during your browsing, sry, I just post very long posts usually, I'm weird like that :P

If it's worth doing, it's worth overdoing
