Ideas for improving Miss Fortune E and why its terrible ( Riot currently working on her so speak up)

The problem:

the spell has 800 range but by the time you finish your casting animation your target is often within enough range to dive you. The spell just seems like it doesn't accomplish its job.

The reveal is half the size of the actual spell radius, the mana cost is high, the cast animation roots MF making it bad for kiting and chasing. The damage is low and scales with ap and the slow cancels immediately after leaving the circle (making the slow duration often extremely short when trying to chase or kite)

The stop to cast animation is such a hindrance that I feel the tooltip should read:

ACTIVE: Miss Fortune roots herself for .7 seconds and rains hundreds of bullets down onto target 100-radius area. This area lasts for 2 seconds, slowing and dealing magic damage every quarter of a second to enemies within and ending immediately on enemies who step outside

Her E deals **** damage all game long, even at level 5. The fact that it's DoT means that it'll never even deal full damage anyways. You can't say that you're supposed to use it for it's slow, because the slow is negligible at early to mid levels, and even when maxed out, the slow effect seriously isn't nearly good enough to compensate for it's lackluster damage and dedication into adding skill points into. In short. Lacks both utility and damage.

Solutions:

My personal solution is to allow MF to cast make it rain while moving. This allows synergy with her strut passive. It allows Make it rain to help, not hinder in chasing/kiting situations.

I believe the primary function of make it rain is its slow granting kiting/chasing potential. Right now with an enemy on your tail or just outside your reach, make it rain roots you and only slows the enemy, amounting to a net loss or gain in distance in your enemies favor. This change allows make it rain's dmg to remain low/ ap scaling, keeps the high mana, keeps the relatively small radius, the instant slow removal, the minuscule fog of war reveal and the very small rank 1 slow of just 20 percent all in favor of improving the kiting/chasing potential. It allows MF some form of semi reliable kiting in a kit with absolutely no escapes/ responses to being dived. If an enemy hops on top of MF she is still SOL, this change simply allows MF the capacity to prevent her opponent getting to her in the first place through smarter play

Other solutions ( from Ginga):

The basic idea is to make this ability either a viable option over her Q or W, or make it worth atleast adding a single point into.

Solution 1: This one is the most obvious. Make it a "one point wonder", make it an ability that doesn't get all that much better as you level it, but is amazing even at just level 1. Compare to Corki's Valkyrie or Graves' Smokescreen. Those abilities are already amazing at just the first level and gives them room to concentrate on the ones that requires skill point input to remain strong. Make it's slow start off super strong but really quickly fall off, like Lulu's Glitterlance.

Solution 2: Make it good enough to be worth adding skill points into at the expense of her Q and W's levels. I have no idea how Riot can possibly do this. It's latest buff in the Jayce patch did squat. Any idea I have involves a bit of coding to give it a reason to exist...such as make her E...

proc on-hit effects, so that she can apply Heal de-buff and deal a teensy bit of magic damage with each wave.

grant an AS buff to friendly champions in it's AoE

apply some crippling secondary effect if any enemy remains in it's full duration, like some sort of blind effect

nullify all beneficial buffs attached to enemy champions(Taric's aura, Aegis, Red Buffs, AA modifiers, etc.) while inside the AoE

on the other hand of the spectrum, remove it's non-existent slow effect and make it's damage super slow, and make staying on the damage increase each tick of damage exponentially(enough to replace her Q)

remove the damage it deals, make it's CC super powerful

make hitting enemies with her Make it Rain shield her Passive from ever being blown off

champions who are damaged by Make it Rain can not move through any methods asides from normal moving (translation: prevent use of Flash and gap closers)

allied champions in the AoE will have increased armor and magic resist as long as they are in it

Miss Fortune restores mana each time a unit takes damage from Make it Rain

remove all delay when using Make it Rain. As in let her use the ability while moving.

greatly reduce the ability's damage, but in return, greatly increase it's duration so it acts like a semi-ward when used, lasts approximately the duration of the ability's cooldown without CDR

Make it Rain will slowly move towards the target of Miss Fortune's auto-attack

radius and duration of Make it Rain will gradually increase as long as it is inflicting damage on a champion.

this is a 3-part change -Impure Shots Passive magic damage effect was transferrred to Make it Rain -Formerly Impure Shots Passive buffed enough to make it worthwhile -Impure Shots is just an active ability now.

PS - pitch in your own ideas as well...it looks better than bumping and keeps the thread in front page.

  • Have each tick of damage apply a stack of Impure Shots
  • Adjust base damage to accommodate for the extra damage
