10 bans up asap. Don't drag the wait out, then decide to postpone until preseason

i dont understand why for competitive it was so quick and easy with 10 bans and we have to wait longer, original idea was to fix soloq with this

Fairyfleur41 votes

The problem was that the Legacy client wasn't retired yet, now that it is, they can implement it.

RiotMeddler42 votes

Correct. Path to 10 bans in regular games should be fairly quick now, barring any unforeseen issues.

Is there any concern that that 10 bans will essentially remove certain champions from the game? With 6 bans a champion with a high ban rate can usually slip through 40-50% of the time, but with 4 more bans its quite likely the frequency you are able to play these champions will go down extremely low.

Personally im very much against 10 bans. In theory there are well over 100 champions now but considering a small percentage are 'good' at any given time due to balance combined with personal preference for champion play styles could result in few available picks.

ClatoVerataNicto13 votes

At one point there was far fewer champions with 6 bans. If anything it's just normalizing the ban ratio.

The interesting part about that, though, is when will 10 bans not feel like enough? Don't get me wrong, I'm all for 10 bans right now, but League is an ever growing game. Will 10 bans still feel like enough when we hit the 200th champion?

underscores22214 votes

10 bans gives everyone a ban, so it feels a lot more impactful than "I hope the last two (or three) guys ban someone I don't want to see"

Given the rate of champ releases (6ish per year), I would say we won't hit 150 champs for another 2ish years and 200 some 7 years beyond that. The game might not be around by then, or it could have altered in a variety of ways. Either way, we don't have to worry about it for a while.

I can't wait until Yasuo is deleted from the game tbh

AirKingNeo2 votes

Mostly, there will always be that one guy.

JnFnRu1 votes

I have vowed to always ban Yasuo once 10 bans arrive, no matter what!!!

BulimicSpacePug3 votes

Yasuo walked into a bar.

There were no counters.

Seriously, though, I'm banning him every game.

statelesskiller14 votes

i would think that if a champion is permabanned its a good sign that it needs SOME work. of some kind. and encourages riot to make those changes as soon as possible in the best way possible

Wyrmblade7 votes

If one champion has a 100% ban rate then riot will be forced to fix them. There is zero downsides to that.

Joseraph1 votes

As seen in the past with Zed, they'll still ban that champion.

Steelflame1 votes

Yes, but as he slipped through people found he was less and less overbearing, and less and less worth the ban. And Zed was still popular, and a large factor of ban rate is how much people want to play that champion if they get through. Who cares if Azir has a 99% win rate at a .0001% pick/ban rate, he isn't worth the ban because odds are he won't be in your game.

Hinagiku332 votes

He's still obnoxious as hell even if he isn't as strong as he used to be.

Still worth a ban slot unless there's a counter-pick I want to ban out instead...or if Yasuo wasn't banned yet.

NiceTryVi1 votes

Excellent, if it is easy now, lets see the Lee Sin nerf that 85% of your player base thinks needs to happen. A meaningful one. So that he doesn't have a 40% play rate and maintain a 50% winrate.

No no. Please, leave him overpowered. When 10 bans come, I'll never have to see Lee again. It's all happening according to plan....

At this point, I plan on never seeing him ever again. If he gets banned before its my turn, then I will never see a Yasuo ever again either. Maybe then Riot will consider meaningful changes to these anti-fun bullshit champions.

Many players feel the same way.

Hi Meddler,

I have read that you guys don't believe the pro-scene ban format is good for solo-Q. Can we get some context as to why, and also on what kind of ban format is best, in your opinion, for solo-Q / ~~Dynamic ~~ Flex-Q ?

Neo Metalsonic1 votes

Really? The new client is so slow in terms of selecting mastery pages in game on top of being obnoxious in the after game chat (smaller chat). Also I don't like how it omits a huge amount of stats. Already disliked this on the old client. Not sure why Riot has us go to op.gg instead of something official to get accurate statistics regarding champions. Old client had it, new client just displays 5 champions you play in ranked.

The most annoying thing though is that the screen becomes black if you alt tab to your browser during champion select. So you see a black screen when you selected your champion preventing any adjustments. The best thing is the in build replay function and test mode function about the new client. That added functionality is great. But the UI designers have done a poor job imo.

TricolorStar29 votes

With the number of champions reaching close to 150+ we need 10 bans. It's just math. I'm honestly surprised they didn't implement them sooner.

Glory ln Death10 votes

Based on the rate at which Riot is making new champions, we won't hit 150 champions for about 3 years.

don't be surprised by the lack of effort from riot devs ... they are lazy af just look at the pile of shit they just thrown at us named "new client"

I suspect that project management is to blame for that clusterfuck, not developers.

Segius5 votes

Actually the new client is a heck of a lot better then the old one, you are misinformed

Mech0p2 votes

I didn't think so up until release... I was having all sorts of issues with bugsplats, music freezing and repeating, loud noises out of no where, and many other issues but now it seems to be running much better since the retired the old client... I personally like the new one very much now that I'm used to it...

Hi I play since season 1 when there were like 50 champ. We really need 10 bans. I'm waiting for this since 2 yeaars and still waiting .... (And I don't care about LCS like 80% of players, so 10 bans in pro league ...) Draft/Pick will be much longer but who cares ? We play ranked to tryhard, and I'm bored to see only godtier/toptier champ in all my ranked games. In every patch there are like 10 godtier champions who are batter than all the others. Btw, I think that Riot should play their game from time to time, just to realize the disaster.

It's very sad that there are champions with great potential while others are useless. If u play league of legends and if you're not stuck in silver 4 you will obviously know what I mean.

I really hope that riot will open their eyes ...

If you want an example of a champion who has always been powerful in the past and now can not do anything : MonkeyKing Wukong had like 53 to 57% winrate and now he is less than 50% ...

YambrinZ8 votes

Champ select is already long enough as it is. Add in all the crybaby dodges, client dodges, etc, and its annoying as hell to play ranked. Unless they make it so we all lock in 1 ban per person at the same time then leave it be. Id rather see no bans instead of more bans.

Squishie3 votes

But you gotta keep in mind that it will make things better, for example you can get rid of the champ that frustate you the most everygame, for me that will be kogmaw, I WILL BAN THIS LIL SHIT EVERYGAME.

Just ban Lulu and Kogmaw's strength plummets.

Squishie1 votes

I don't know man, he can really work out well with many supports Braum Janna Soraka Taric , even though some people might not consider him OP, I just hate being matched versus him It feels that for the whole game you have to play around him, any mistake and you are done for! Btw what's going on with lulu these days, people been asking to ban her in champ select alot and I don't seem to find the reason. Did they buff her ?

I don't think people want her banned due to buffs, they want her banned because she's extremely oppressive at all stages of the game, way too safe and dishes out a buttload of damage.

What you've just said describe Orianna imo, but I see! thanks for your time sir, have a good day.

Hold your horses. First new client update needs to wrap up and then we go to 10 bans. Riot has already said that the format is not going to be the same as what we have for the pro scene so that's one the two of the reasons for the delay.

FakeGravity5 votes

then proceed to release three champions that are completely ban worthy to the point we just have 5 bans really

So lets make posts in advance?

Ok! SKT will win the Worlds again, wtf Riot, why do i even watch Worlds anymore?

Same logic. As long as it isn't everywhere, my point stands.

rtbf2256182411 votes

I don't think your example quite holds up. I also didn't articulate myself very well either. Could be wrong but there seems to be no merit to predicting an SKT win and acting upon that. The op's post makes sense because Riot has promised things in the past and not delivered. Sometimes there are reasons for this (some good, some bad) but 10 bans are necessary for a game with such a bloated champion pool.

  1. SKT is a 2-time Worlds winning team.

2.We are all well informed that we're getting 10 bans once ALL regions have transitioned to the New Client which will be happening on the 3rd of May for EU.

Another example of a precautionary post that make sense are reworks. Better to voice concerns early than to wait for resources to be locked in (a point of no return).

This isn't a precautionary post but simple ignorance. Pre-cautionary measures yeah, as if we control what Riot does in the span of "ASAP".

Squishie2 votes

Yeah man, I'll never have to play versus kogmaw and his support premade anymore.

The biggest argument for 10 bans is the tower buffs and first brick gold changes Rito added last year to kill lane swap meta in pro play. They wanted ranked queue to look like pro play so they locked teams into standard play. The precedent has been set and I don't see why they aren't following it.
