Taric Rework Ideas
Our most fabulous and outRRRRRageous champion on the League has certianly got to be Taric.
He's been such an interesting character on League, and I would like to take a couple of moments to discuss some possible changes to him that could make Taric more fun to play. I play him occasionally, but since he lacks immense utility like other supports namely:
(and many more, to name a few), I'd like to discuss some possible rework and Visual Update ideas for the most fabulous knight available for 1350 IP.
Personally, I think Taric is a little underpowered, or just doesn't truthfully belong in the current meta.
His current look--pizza feet, unattractive yet "bedazzled" in gems, and over sized hammer don't exactly add to his lore. I think as a gem knight, his armor should be laced in colorful, flamboyant gems. I personally believe his feet should not resemble pizza. His hammer isn't exactly a bad thing, but it could use an retouch, maybe make the handle shorter, or make the head of the hammer smaller?
Next, I want to discuss his overall abilities.
When you see a Taric running at you, what do you typically do? Do you cower in fear? I don't see many people that run from a basic Tank Taric build, which his abilities suggest that is what should be being built (Shatter scales partly off of 12% of his total armor, Gemcraft scales of 20%). I don't necessarily think a huge buff should be added to any of these abilities, except maybe his ultimate should be changed.
I don't really see anything wrong with his Imbue besides it could use an icon update, maybe a slight buff. If that.
Shatter doesn't really give Taric a steroid. It seems kind of useless, as tank items are really strong in season 4. It also seems too close like his ultimate, and when Shatter is activated, it doesn't really stand out in a team fight like a Mundo cleaver or a Jinx W. I am curious as to whether it should be buffed, or completely have a different use. An idea could be it releases an area-of-effect point-blank range gem field (i.e. gems grow from the earth in a circle) that would slow a target by 15% and do slight magic damage over time. Possibly even giving Taric and any ally in the radius of the circle 10+ Attack Damage. Sort of like
's Tormented Soil. But it could be used more to aid in team fights, or slow down fleeing enemies like
's ability (I don't remember its name--its her E).
Taric's Dazzle is the main reason I would play him. Though it resembles pixie dust rather than a "prismatic sphere". I think it could use a visual update, looking more like gems poking up out of the earth in a line, and when it hits its target, they become "frozen" in a gem-like cocoon. Sort of like when Ashe frost shotted WarWick in the Cinematic Trailer (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zY1vLEk8B9c)at (1:56) that explodes to deal the same damage Dazzle does now. I think the stun could either use a longer duration (not exactly the 3 second stun like on Morg's Dark Binding at Max Level) but maybe 2 seconds at level one, 2.1, 2.2, and so forth. Or, if Dazzle hits an enemy it should grant Taric 20% or some value movement speed. After Taric currently dazzles, he can't really attack. I think Taric is a gem "knight" somebody who could potentially be a decent bruiser (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jGy5ZJ8cSUE) like in this video, though maybe not as OP as shown in it, and a really reliant Tank/Healer. Dazzle also, if hit by Taric five seconds (or less) after being cast, should do an extra 25? more damage.
Another idea might be to change Taric's ult to look more "eye-catching". Its a big deal when Nasus ults, or when Gragas ults, or when Shyvana ults, but Taric's ult doesn't have that great of an aura. Frankly, in a team fight it isn't really colorful. Maybe the aura could be changed but when he ults a giant gem bursts from the earth and imbues Taric with the resonating gem energy that he conducts to his team mates. The aura needs to be changed so its actually pretty decent in a team fight, but I haven't really experimented with it enough to really suggest what that could be. His ult just sucks to me.
Well, that's all my suggestions. My goal was to maybe give Riot some ideas when Taric is placed on their rework project and to hear from the community how they believe this fantastic Gem Knight should evolve to the new League Standards.
These are all just ideas, just suggestions, please don't be overly toxic.
Good day, and be outrageous.
