I do not feel like owning lots of champions is a good thing in ARAM
I like to play a lot of champions on ARAM, but like anyone there are just a few that most of the time, I'm like "fuck this shit," and it doesn't even have to be a weak champion. I just don't like playing AP Sion or Veigar. I do not rapidly burn through rerolls trying to get Lux, Ashe, or Soraka even though I enjoy playing them. I understand having more than 2 could facilitate the act of fishing for champions.
But here's an example of why I feel I get the short end of the stick: There are plenty of top tier champions in ARAM. You can easily fill a diverse roster of 16 with these champions. Thus, it's extremely easy to build an ARAM smurf with these champions, and even if you own none of the freeweek champs, there is still a 50% chance of grabbing your top tier champion per game. That's even assuming all the freeweek champions are horrible, which almost never the case.
So a lot of the time, you get OP picks without even people bothering to fish for them. Why else does Lux have a 15% pick rate on ARAM?
Now, I'm supposed to get a nice bonus for rerolls for owning lots of champions. Well, in reference to my needs, I guess. I get more than half a reroll per aram. So I can afford to reroll 1 champion per 2 games even though I go dozens of games without doing so because it's aram.
But when I get game after game after game of OP **** I don't want to deal with and would ban if I could, it's not fun. And why does this happen? Because it only takes 58 games for 10 rerolls on someone with a loaded 16 roster. For me it takes 18 games for 10 rerolls. Let's not forget that I have a 15% chance of rolling a "uber" champion while the other guy has a 50% chance AT LEAST. This would be fine except that he has more than a 3 times the chance of rolling a guy while having less than 3 times the delay between rolls.
I play aram for fun, but I damn well like to win, and I like to have a good shot at setting myself up for a win. What's the incentive to own more champions in aram if I'm basically just making harder for myself to win or even just match other's oppressive kits on this map.
Does anyone actually get off on getting fished by Lux for Qs? Does anyone actually like to dodge Ziggs' bombs?
Look, Riot, reduce the base reroll points per game and double the linear rate for owning champions. I have 103 champions and closing in on another one. I honestly think I should get an entire reroll every single game, maybe even give a third reroll for people who own all the champions.
Ideally, everyone would have access to all champions in ARAM to end this farce of a system, but that doesn't flow with the business model, so we gotta think of something else.
edit: And I just remembered there are 10 freeweek champs, not 16. The 50% just jumped to 60%.
