Prestige Points; An exploration of options

We're coming up on round three of the Prestige Points skins that will be locked behind a very tall pay wall and a good deal of players are displeased with the current system as their mains most elusive of skins become unobtainable both in the sense of the monetary and the instant gratification or rewarding grinding that comes with working toward a goal. In short, the current iteration doesn't feel good for players, but it doesn't seem that PP will be going away. So what should we do?

Here are some proposed changes to the PP system, aimed to remove some of the pain points for players while still maintaining the integrity of the points:

Gemstone Conversion: There is already a loot system in place where players might find their champions behind an RNG wall and they have already spent hundreds on loot boxes trying to find these rare bits of ore to grant them the final skin in their collection. So what if you saved all your gemstones on the off chance YOUR champion gets a skin, but now they're behind the PP wall instead of the gemstone wall? Allowing players to trade gemstones for a certain number of Prestige Points could help players get the skin they want without feeling cheated. Maybe 5 pp to one gemstone? The math would be up to Riot, but this could alleviate some of the RNG hurt associated with two skin types reliant completely on loot boxes.

Reward For Buying The Skins You DO Want: Some players with large collections or who have all the content for their main champions simply don't have any need to buy loot boxes, they already own the skins for all of their mains. If everything you bought over the course of the year came with a small amount of PP as a reward for consistently purchasing it would gather naturally and players wouldn't feel forced into buying things they don't need. This would perhaps actually equal more skins sales. _Example: I like the upcoming Corki Corgi skin, but I don't play Corki. But If I knew I wanted a prestige skin, and wanted to get the (3 maybe?) PP that came with it anyway, it might tip the scales and make me buy it since I sort of like it, and it'd be two birds with one stone. _

Why Do They Expire?: The current set of prestige points are set to expire in January of 2020, giving players only one year to hurriedly gather the PP needed for their exclusive skin. I propose that this makes the system feel terrible to play into, and that if we 'earn' these points that like Gemstones, we should get to keep them and save toward them over the life of our accounts.

None of these changes would be giving out Prestige Points for free or lessen their value or the income coming in, and would improve the 'quality of life' of those who are seeking out to fill their collections.

Do you have more suggestions? Feel free to add. Thanks for reading guys, I hope we get some good changes going.

Edit: Try not to downvote eachother, guys.

The Prestige system is not designed to be something people can get. It is designed to reward players who spend the most money on Riot’s services.

Allowing players to get prestige points without spending the money others are not only diminishes the value and exclusivity of the skins for those who do get them, but turns this into “just another paywalled content” instead of a frequent flier program.
