Why do I still play this game...
Before we start. I'm only Gold 3. Ye, it's sh**. I've been playing for over 4 years (started on Braum's release). Cool.
I also recognise that Riot is run by Tencent now not themselves.
But that's besides the point.
The whole reason I started league was some of my friends were playing it and I'd hear them talking to each other about the games they played, the sick wombos they did, the awesome outplays they made and the pro games they watched. I asked them about what game it was and boom, I'm playing.
I've spent just over 80 days of my life on this game and finally I'm f*ing sick of this sh. I'm done. Completely and utterly done.
Why you ask?
Let's go back a little bit, to when I started. Season 4, just after URF, Braum has just been released. The game was fun, I enjoyed it thoroughly. Me and my friends who got me started would trio and do wierd and wacky sh** like Malphite + Ashe bot with Yasuo mid. We made cool wombos and we had fun.
But now, there is no fun. For me I don't find this game fun anymore. There are too many other people to name that have left this game because it's not fun. Nightblue3 and so many other players that have been playing from pretty much the start of the game are f***ing sick of this. I admire UberDanger for how much he seems to hate this game yet he keeps playing because he pretty much has to.
You're probably wondering "well why do you hate it"
- Still being stuck in low elo (plat 3+ is high elo in my mind) presents a tonne of problems which for all those low elo players, you already know them
- N-e-w space C-h-a-m-p-s period You know who you are little Zoe @$$ bi*****
- Tank meta. Looking at Ornn 4 ADCs. Again, f***ing new champs... but also adcs in general... Kai'sa
If you haven't noticed the trend here... You need glasses, and a brain
But F***
The trend is the Riot Balance Team who appear to need glasses and brains. There are so many other posts on boards about rito's balance team however Hashinshin summarises it best I think. Ye it's funny to meme him about how he complains and sure some of the stuff maybe be exaggerated to an extent. But if you connect the dots you realise his point is incredibly valid.
ALSO, some of the balance team don't play League (which Hashinshin also mentioned). Along the lines of, "You don't need to play a game to design it." I want to end this on that note and destroy my computer but I won't because I have more to explain and I have other, better games on this pile of metal and plastic. But, I can't think of a single word to describe how infuriated that one sentence makes me. And i also can't think of a single word to describe the mental state of a person capable of making that statement... Oh wait, the balance team needs brains, gotcha.
Now to be fair, the game is constantly changing and that is difficult to balance ye but, its like pranks. The original pranks were funny for both parties, fart pranks, simple scare pranks, they're funny. But, everytime you do a prank, everyone seems to want to step it up a notch. To the point where now, people dress up as f***ing Pennywise, walk around with a knife in hand trying to sca- cough cough -kill- cough cough them, and then run away screaming it's just a prank when people pull guns and whatnot to protect themselves. It's the same logic here. The original game was fun. Ye it could use updates here and there (hence champ reworks Poppy, Galio, Taric, Fiora, Irelia, Warwick etc). And yes it could use new mechanics and champs. But it's gotten to the point where league is literally a person running around stealing food you just paid for and eating it as they run off. IT'S STEALING MY SANITY. There's too much. There's too many new champs. The list goes on forever.
I'm done. Because there are too many problems. And Riot seems incapable of fixing them.
I want the old league. Where URF came out on April fools and was here for a week and it was actual URF. Where Hexakill and One for All were spiced into the mix. Where you didn't have crap gamemodes like the f***ing Star Guardian one. Where the balance team actually cares and they play the game and they take things seriously. Where Riot isn't owned by Tencent. Where players can have real fun with friends. Where players who want to take it seriously can (ranked) w/o interuptions from feeders, trollers and toxic players. Where players who want to have fun can have fun. Where the game is sophisticated enough to be engaging and there is an actual skill curve yet it isn't impossible to pick up because of new champs every single month and a 1/2. Where the max level cap is 30. Also just quickly though. Let's take a moment to think about this. I'm about level 70 and I'm Gold 3. There are players lower than me (elo-wise) who are higher (level-wise) cause they spam the crap out of this game. So on first glance you might think he's better than me. What?
This paragraph doesn't even scratch the surface as what I wished was turned back.
f*** where's Thanos and the Time-Stone when you need it.
To summarise:
I don't get it.
I just don't f***ing get it.
Now that I'm pretty much quitting, the only two things I like about league are:
- E-sports and 2. The Art Community
Comparison to the start: I liked the game and pretty much everything about it period
Riot. You've lost another one of your players.
