If you forgot, even Riot admitted that due to the 2 new ranks last season, there are a lot of inflated ranks and they even changed those for Challenger and Grandmaster to lower as even Plat players were in Master with 40% wr.
People: "Riot give hard reset" Riot: gives a much harder reset than usually People: "WTF ranked broken, only the rest should be demoted and not me"
If you're in plat and got bronze, holy fuck my silver ass is going straight to Iron and isn't even passing go.
if the ladder did get hard reset then I am the happiest bunny on the boards.

No rollback, it's intentional, trying to compensate for positional matchmaking, we're all paying for abusers.
yes ppl are pissed but its better this way. the mmr system was so messed up, so many ppl were way higher than they should be and it made the game so bad. yes many ppl will end up lower than ever, but thats a good thing. you got 1 year to climb.
