LoL Ranked Proposal
Before I say anything I'm just going disclose that I barely play ranked, so I might not really be qualified to talk about changing it. But, I feel like what I'm proposing is inherently the way that competitive should work in an ideal world. So as far as I know, the gist of the way ranked works very simplified is you win games to go up ranks and losing games will set you back. I don't know how the algorithm works exactly(or even if there is an algorithm, but I'd be very surprised if there wasn't) but as far as I know, the algorithm does not factor in the champion that was played at all. I feel like this is a major flaw in the way it ought to work.
I'll break it down into simple logic to make sure I convey my point. The purpose of ranked is to establish how good a player is. But, champions do not all require the same amount of skill to play. Therefore, getting a 10/1/15 KDA as someone such as Annie, Garen, or Ashe(among others) did not exhibit as much skill as someone who got a 10/1/15 KDA as someone such as Orianna, Lee Sin, or Azir(among others). However, two players getting this score will have their KDAs ranked as equally skilled. This is a fundamental flaw in the way ranked should work.
I'm not saying it should be impossible for easy champions to climb, but there should be a difference in the rewards/consequences of winning/losing in ranked based on how difficult the champion played was. This could be a touchy subject, and it would be pretty much impossible to come up with a difficulty value for each champion that everyone agrees on, there's just too much debate. But, I think almost everyone would agree that Orianna, Lee Sin, and Azir are notably more difficult to do well with than Annie, Garen, and Ashe. So there could be at least some amount of this factor implemented into the algorithm.
Do you agree/disagree? Any thoughts on how to refine this idea? Also, if I'm wrong and the champion used is taken into account when calculating results from a ranked game, please tell me, but I haven't been able to find anything saying that it does.
