I am so disappointed in how Riot handled Clash

Like everyone else, I'm actually pretty pissed about how Riot handled Clash. It's in testing on PBE several times, a beta happens, and while there are a few big bugs it seems like the majority if players get through. Then with the first release of Clash that I am actually finally able to play, after finding randoms online which is something I'm not comfortable with, and after cancelling real life plans and rescheduling stuff I finally was able to play. Multiply that by five people, multiply that by how many people were anticipating Clash. Giving us back our Clash tickets isn't going to be enough this time Riot.

It's so god damn hard to get 5 adults together, it's hard to turn down people who shit on you for turning them down for "just a video game," and it's hard to know I could be doing something actually fun right now. How does this happen? Is this a bug introduced in some of the updates to Clash? I don't understand.

I'm also pretty disappointed that Riot didn't tell us sooner. Apparently they've known about the issue since yesterday (because Australia is 20 hours ahead of us) so they could've said it's cancelled this morning. Nope, I didn't want to be that guy who fucks my Clash team over so I stuck around despite having the opportunity to go do other things tonight, I guess Riot didn't have the same consideration.

Shits got me heated fam. But on the bright side, at least I'm finally free to chill with friends today instead of practicing on League.

Still though, Riot takes an L for this.

Looks like clash was the biggest mistake riot ever made, this disappointed so many people and it is totally unacceptable for a billion dollar company to make silly mistakes such as this which results to wasting people's time and money for wanting to play an event that they hyped for months.

Riot needs to own up to their mistake and offer compensation to the players that gave up their weekends to set aside time for clash.

What bothers me still is that huge events like this they don't give back anything besides a sorry notice.

I'm not saying we as players are entitled to free shit but something that was this hyped for all players, ranked/tryhards/OTPs/casuals/streamers have all been looking forward to the release of clash. Friends and classmates, coworkers and relatives all coming together to play in a team-oriented and competitive environment only to be read, "uh-oh yikes, oof, mb" - Riot on the day of Clash's release.

For those who made plans weeks, months even, in advance for this big weekend are disheartened and disappointed with the trouble they went through to make their team available for this weekend. Player who serve in our military, whose last opportunity to play league with their friends for a last hurrah before go overseas. These players don't know when they'll be able to get together and play like they could again.

a sorry isnt even close to enough. all players who were in a clash team should be gifted BE and an icon at the very minimum. countless hours of practice all for nothing

I just can't believe how short the notice was on this. I mean we are talking about cancelling a weekend event, at the very beginning of the weekend. Did it REALLY take them all the way up until now to figure out that something was so bugged, that clash had to be cancelled entirely? Sounds like some rookie mistakes were made....A lot of them.

They should roll out a hype video where a bunch of nerds are getting ready to play League but then Rito cucks them with their s***ty programming so instead of pretending that playing video games in public makes you look cool and getting watched by cute girls in cosplay, they all go home and get wasted on fizzy drinks while they scream over Xbox Live like a bunch of wild banshees until they black out and wake up alone covered in Cheeto dust, Mountain Dew, and deep-seeded insecurities.

I'm actually disappointed at how you're taking this situation, OP. Not only that Riot said that this issue was not in any of the beta tests, gamebreaking things happened that needed to be addressed immediately and the solution wasn't (or still isn't) coming in time.

Yes, they could've said something sooner BUT if they did immediately state the Clash was delayed and the issue then was fixed in time, people would've still rioted about a prematurely announced cancellation and would've still fucked up their schedules regardless. This was an unforeseen problem that just happened very near the starting of the first Clash experience. Which meant that nothing less than identifying and fixing the problem on time, was going to inconvenience a specific subset of players who've made plans to play it.

This wasn't planned, it just happened. You can pipe down now, unless you want to be an unreasonable person and blame them for something that could never be predicted in advance. Shit breaks, things break, software bugs out. Fortunately, it's not something that's even common with League and that should be a comfort for everyone.

Is it too late to ask for a weekend of regular URF?

Give everyone who qualifies to play for clash (has ticket, H2, ranked, sms verified) a 5-ticket 0-win clash capsule

Not disappointed with how Riot handled Clash tbh. The task itself is very complex - trying to code something along these lines with the client in its current state is very, very challenging. (This is not to mention, there were unrealistic expectations by the "geniuses" in Riot's marketing and promotions sections that players would be willing to invest large amounts of time and capital in their little experiment. Given the many promises made, plus the near impossible time constraints and requirements of the initial challenge, meant that the odds of such a venture being a long term success for the amount of effort required is actually quite slim.) When I saw the initial bits about Clash being trotted out in the promotional video, I immediately had visions of a Scott Adams-like backroom pitting the Dilberts of the dev division against the pretentious pointy-haired higher-ups.

Let's be blunt - the whole thing was not "shipready" - and was announced far too soon (especially if you read between the lines). If anything, my sympathies go out to the devs for trying to get Clash off the ground.

A member of our team changed his shift for a shift next weekend. But it's all cool, he's getting back his clash ticket, so it's no problem. Very well handled.

i don't see why you all complaining. Clash Crash same thing :)

I'm sure they tried everything till the last second to make it work. They probably had a fix they thought would work and it didn't

What are you, twelve? If you're honestly this mad about not being able to play a video game there's a good chance you actually didn't have anything to do this weekend anyway. You couldn't even find 4 friends to play Clash with, why the fuck are you lying like you had other shit to do this weekend. Grow up, it's a video game. item 3073

EDIT:

Yeah I missed a reception for a family member. They're kind of distant so it's not a massive deal but still man, they live about an hour away and by the time Riot cancelled Clash I was unable to go. They knew yesterday the bug was there, they should've cancelled it the same time for every region when OCE had issues.

If you actually chose to play league of legends with a bunch of randoms instead of going to a family member's funeral, YOU took the L. Prioritize your shit.

I do admit, it was pretty bad, I mean the things that everyone put aside and the fact that Clash just stopped queue in a flash was a pretty big blow to the community. Riot should probably put in compensation of some sorts. Maybe refunded Clash Tickets or RP?

Then again, you think the amount of people that were participating in Clash might have started an unexpected DDOS of sorts? I mean with that many people queueing up a lot of packets are probably going in and out; much more than what League servers usually take. I also got kicked out of Blind at the same time as when Clash stopped working.

All things considered, I still think that Riot should actually try to fix Clash and hopefully get it up and running ASAP, with the foul mood that the community is in right now.

Disappointed that sometimes things don't work and just because a company has money, means that they have to be infallible geniuses? Alrighty then.
