Riot's justifications for several preseason changes don't make any sense

item 3134 "We don't like component items whose passives don't appear in the fully built version." item 3853 item 3864 item 3857 item 3860 "Well, except support items. Just don't have income late game you ward bot lul." item 3512 "We don't like gameplay systems that promote non-interactive playstyles." item 3181 "Well except an actually viable split push item that also annihilates any single person who comes alone to stop you lul."

These are only the item changes too. I actually don't mind the rift changes and nerfs to early game dragons but the soul being an instawin is something that needs to be looked at. The game doesn't even go long enough for the soul to be claimed in most of my games, but the toxicity thrown at junglers who fail to get a single dragon is absolutely nuts. Meanwhile, we have 3 bushes bot lane which is actually a more impactful change than the smoking area they added down there and makes it harder to keep vision control.

I've been playing since season 1 and every time I try to have a positive experience this preseason, the matchmaking queues me into games vs 3 or 4 Master+ players while I get Plat or lower people, as if I as a diamond 4 could stem the annihilation of my lower ranked teammates by Master+ people. Combined with the gameplay changes I mentioned before, I honestly don't know if me or the few people I know who still play will be around in a few months, we're having infinitely more fun on other games. I know that preseason is supposed to be chaos, but this doesn't feel like chaos to me. It feels a continuation of the last few disastrous seasons with even more annoying stuff no one asked for. Why connect dragon buff changes to the environmental changes at all? You could've brought back a revamped version of smite buffs which people actually liked and had random environmental changes still happen to spruce up the environment. Why rebalance supports by deleting their end game ability to actually buy items and ruining the dream of the full build support? Why rebalance Conqueror for some god forsaken reason after a solid year and a half of trying to get it into the right place, only to reset how problematic the rune is?

Change for the sake of change. That is the logic behind Riot's decisions.

It actually places both types of support items at a fairly equal footing. Apart from a select few supports (cough cough mage supports) who, while i may not have a problem with being in bottom lane, did outgold enchanter supports by a ways due to mostly being artillary mages, so they just poke poke poke and get substantially more gold than those with the relic line or the spelltheif line because of long range. This allowed them to buy bigger items than enchanter and tank supports. Tank supports usually had a bit less gold getting (unless your adc actually works with you) with relic line than frost fang or ancient coin line, but edge out the frost line later on.

Now? you get a pretty much free 750+? gold that you dont have to spend for more wards, you get the wards automatically without having to buy a 350 cost upgrade. After fully stacked and evolved, it also increases the passive gold generation as well as evens out with the other line, no matter what one you chose. It is all about stats after that. Not the greatest stats in the world, but considering you spent 350 gold for the item..... what do you expect?

As for the third bush, yes, it is a major buff to bottom lane and top lane when fighting for vision control. It also provides a benefit to having a champion that can place something in that bush for vision as a support/adc/top. Such as Nidalee, Shaco, Teemo, Maokai, etc. It also provides more ways of juking around an opponent as well. This makes bottom lane less linear and more strategic depending on how you want to approach the lane.

The main problem with people is their own mentality. It is like when people eat dominos for a long while, they cant stand little ceasar, and visa versa. Then there is those who dont mind eating both because it is still pizza. It is just different styles and ways of doing it. League is like a pizza. It has changed over the years for better and for worse, but it is changed to keep it interesting and not so linear. Some people can adjust with the changes, some people can not.

Also, that split pushing item is already being nerfed, same as it was even when it was first in pbe it was nerfed. Split pushing is a part of the game however and no matter how they try to counteract it, it will ALWAYS be a part of the game. This is because players will find some way of making it a part of the game still. Though, an interesting nerf to it would be that towers act as a second "champion" same as they do with Kha isolation. Thus making it so that 1 person if under tower doesnt have to worry about the effect as much.

"We don't like component items whose passives don't appear in the fully built version." "Well, except support items. Just don't have income late game you ward bot lul."

You didn't pay gold to have an effect removed. It is removed for free, like with item 1083

"We don't like gameplay systems that promote non-interactive playstyles."

No shit, nobody likes non-interactive playstyles. Viable ZZrot will break the game, non-viable ZZrot is a trap item, why even bother with it?

"Well except an actually viable split push item that also annihilates any single person who comes alone to stop you lul."

Any "single" person. Might as well complain that a single person can't stop Tryndamere or Fiora splitpushing. Unlike ZZrot that you can just throw on the ground, TP in fight and enemies either lose a tower or are forced to 4x5 with no real counterplay Sanguine blade is op, but not fundamentally broken and unbalanceable like banner or zzrot

the toxicity thrown at junglers who fail to get a single dragon is absolutely nuts

Thats what they deserve for being the most game-deciding role in the game

we have 3 bushes bot lane which is actually a more impactful change than the smoking area they added down there and makes it harder to keep vision control.

I don't think you are supposed to waste wards on bushes in most cases, unless enemies have a hook support

You could've brought back a revamped version of smite buffs which people actually liked

Not everyone liked the "smite X camp in Y situation or you are trolling" buffs. I prefer being able to clear whatever I want in whatever order I want and with smiting whatever I want, depending on who and when I want to gank early. Not being forced to smite chickens before ganking no matter what.

Why rebalance supports by deleting their end game ability to actually buy items and ruining the dream of the full build support?

Because Riot thought that all the gold supports get from their items doesn't feel as much as it really is. They were forced to spend some of it into sightstone, some more into a full upgraded support item, and only after that they got actual gold they can spend on actual items. First they made sightstone free, now they made support item free. I guess they tested it and it resulted in too much free gold for supports compared to s9, so they decided to limit it. I don't like this decision, but I also don't really like the meta of supports leaving everything to carry. I should not be flamed for clearing a wave 20+ mins in the game to finish my item, and I should not be flamed for not stopping my attacks against a dying enemy and getting a kill.

Why rebalance Conqueror for some god forsaken reason after a solid year and a half of trying to get it into the right place

Because Riot wanted a rune that made sure tanks can be killed whatever happens. It turned out that this rune is not only good against fed unkillable tanks, it is also good against everything else on any champion that can stack it fast while still preventing tanks ability to carry by being unkillable. Eventually Riot decided that a stackable rune with sustain is ok, but its anti-tank abilities were too much. To be honest, they should have realised it sooner. Right now the only problem with conqueror is that it stacks too fast by certain champions. Limit it to "max 2 stacks gained per second" and it will be ok.

Do yourself a favor, and uninstall this game. Just do it, it's just one button and it can save your mental health. I'm probably going to rant but who cares.

League in its current state is the actual worst game I've played in YEARS. I'd unironically enjoy State of Decay 2 over this (if you don't know this game all you have to know is that it's BAD, objectively BAD). I can even argue that this is the worst competitive game available. I can't even imagine how you can balance a game such as League at this point, Riot is consistently trying their best to make us uninstall and they aren't even trying to hide it.

What do they think will happen when they release champion kits such as Senna's, Camille's, insert any champion from the last 2-3 years? It's not even about how balanced these kits are anymore, half of them aren't HEALTHY to play against, so why are they being released in the FIRST FUCKING PLACE.

Counter picking is like laughing at your opponent while they stand there not being able to play the game. How have we allowed this game to become such a sad pile of shit? I feel terrible every time I press find match, and thankfully I don't press that button too often anymore.

I can't legitimately play this game and have fun. It doesn't matter if i go 0/30 or 30/0, it's not fun to play this shit man. It cannot be saved, and Riot realized this so they just milk the game as much as they can before they move on to their new releases.

"We don't like that junglers get to permagank without farming"

Instead makes jungle camps so worthless and dragons so OP that the most optimal way to play jungle is by literally only clearing bot side and permaganking bot lane.

I lol at those who still buy what rito says.

They've been lying their asses off since they got bought by the Chinese, maybe since earlier.

All that they want is keep up the player engagement shifting stuff around constantly and keeping up the "unbalance cycle" where something, somewhere is always broken. They want games to be fast and snowball quickly and they do anything in their power to achieve that. All they have to do is state the opposite and you buy it. gg ez

Well pointed.

Why the support items stop giving gold AND keep lowing your gold from CS is just stupid.

Thilmer12/4/2019, 10:47:10 PM4 votes

Well, it follows a logic:

They allow ofensive options to be overpowered as fuck. Support ítems and defensive stuff like ZZ'rot? No, they don't like that.

AirKingNeo12/4/2019, 7:55:28 PM3 votes

Comparing Zz'rot and Sanguine is unfair, because Sanguine is miles ahead in interactivity compared to Zz'rot. Just because Sanguine is overpowered does not mean it is uninteractive in design. Zz'rot doesn't require you to be in a lane to push; Sanguine does.

I'm still kinda pissed they removed zzrot... I used that item every single game on Sion. It was by far my favorite item on him and considered it a core item for my playstyle.

Riot: "We want to make toplane more relevant and impactful on the game by giving a second rift Herald"

Also Riot: *Nerfs Rift herald to the point it's barely more important than a scuttle crab*

Also Riot, again: *Buffs the absolute hell out of dragons to the point playing anywhere that isn't close to bot is literally useless*

Also Riot, once again victim of amnesia: *Takes a literal shit on toplane balance to the point that the playable champions, in the most "varied" and vast role, are reduced to being only a handful out of a few cheesy picks*

Every season changes ever since Pre-S6 has LITERALLY only been based on "1 step ahead, 52158985961235 steps behind" kind of logic. Like holy hell, you'd expect major and continuous changes over the years on a video game exist with the goal of trying to improve the game's quality, but holy sh*t Riot looks like they want to voluntarily kill their own game each year and since it barely fails every year, they just try harder and harder just to see how far they can go.

ContempterX12/5/2019, 3:49:55 PM2 votes

Riot's balancing decisions/philosophies has long been a universal joke.

Back in Assassins rework:

"We are trying to create more counterplay against assassins through this rework" item 3140 are no longer allowed to remove ultimate of Fizz Zed

Also Ekko fares pretty well against mages so we're trying to give him the tools to do it more often
