Title. What's the best game you've played in 2018?
Mine would have to be Nioh. Such an amazing, fluid combat system and beautiful art style makes it a near 10/10 for me. If the protagonist wasn't a plank of wood then it would probably earn a perfect score.
Smash Ultimate is a really close second, though.
I got around to playing Ori and the Blind Forest this year. that was good shit.
LoL was a lot of fun this year.
BOTW was fun but I got bored fast.
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is nice.
The Forsaken expansion for Destiny 2 has made the game surprisingly good. I know an expansion isn't technically a new game but it did so much for Destiny 2 it might as well be.
4 way tie between Celeste, MHW, Smash, and God of War.
Smash Ultimate. Ganondorf is atleast mid tier now. fuck i want a switch so bad.
Skyrim and FNV. Fnv really aged badly since i last played it though, the animations are hard to go back to after modern ones.
LoZ Botw, didn't get around to finishing it as setting up the wii u every time was a hassle. It's pretty, sets itself apart from the other games and there's just so much shit you can do.
Ni no kuni 2. It's real pretty. 3D cg anime styles are often either amazing or straight up garbage to me, but this one is a visual masterpiece. building up the kingdom was cool and gathering citizens was fun. My biggest gripe with it is the story, or rather how it progresses. The story isn't anything special nor is it bad, it's just literally noone is really a bad guy. like everyone is just "under magic influence by the real bad guy", who in the end is just like "aye ma duud i just wanted my waifu back".

Atlas Reactor by far. Simply an amazing game. Sadly it was too much strategy for the average person so it didn't take off. But the game design was so well thought out on that one... So much tension, winning felt so good cause you knew it wasn't due to stupid snowball or simply following a mindless meta, rather you had to out think/out predict your opponent. A few wins from properly predicted Rampart shields still linger in the back of my mind...
Ori and the Blind forest was a blast.
Zombie Night Terror was a ton of fun as well, and hilarious.
Smash and bloodborne for me. I'm also really looking forward to playing god of war and Spiderman soon.

Probably Hollow Knight. It didn't come out this year but I didn't play it until last month.
Probably Nier: Automata. I bought it for $20, didn't expect much. Ended up being one of the best games I've ever played.
MHW. Only game i play regularly besides league still. FFXV is tied but im late on playing that.
I've been enjoying Don't Starve Together. Not the biggest game, and it's got one steep learning curve but once you memorize the crockpot recipes and figure out the combat system and learn how to manage hunger/health/sanity it becomes a lot of fun.
Tekken 7. I loved tekken 3 and I am happy it made a comeback on PC and I hope we get many more years of Tekken in the Future

I really didnt play many games this year. Shin Megami Tensei- Strange Journey Redux was pretty good, but I ended up dropping it due to getting really busy. Smash 5 is probably my number 1 though.
Monster Hunter World
Red Dead Redemption 2. No other game beats this in terms of ranking. It is ranked the best game of the year and best game for consoles if you haven't played it. Amazing storyline and a huge open map to explore in the wild west.

Rust
Top games for me was Subnautica, Warfame, Smash Bros Ultimate, Monster Hunter World and Final Fantasy 15.
My best game though, even though the 2 DLC for it got canceled even though it REALLY needed the one, would have to be FF15.
Subnautica was great but you sort of run out of things to do after you play through it once and play creative mode, Warframe has been a blast but is by far the grindiest game I've ever played. Smash Bros is good as always, but also has that problem of feeling like you've done everything after you unlock all the characters and finished the story mode thing and Monster Hunter World was great but started to fizzle out near the end of the year (though looking forward to the Expansion coming next year).
Even though if the ending for FF15 was REALLY crappy, the rest of the game reminded me of what playing a game for fun was like, back before I started playing primarily rage inducing games like League. I could just to sit back, relax and enjoy the scenery. And even though Square decided to stop production on the DLC that could have fixed the ending, I still enjoyed it and I'm looking forward to the Final Fantasy 7 remake that will be done in a similar style.
Divinity original Sin 2 was the best. 10/10 Turn based RPG with many classes/ race. I had a blast playing a blue Lizard man dual wielding Water and Lightning Magic. There are multiple ending and you can be both evil or good. COOP story mode, either Split screen or Online up to 4 players. Likable characters premade story characters with more lore or custom characters. You can even create undead races with their own unique advantages and disadvantages. The magic system is so satisfying because the elements can be combined for additional effects: water being electrified, water being evaporated by fire creating smoke screen that can be electrified or poisoned to make a flamable poison cloud.
Others I had fun with:
Yakuza kiwami 8/10 Arcade style fighting game with good story and japanese humor. Yakuza 0 9/10 Same formula but even better. **Hollow knight **8/10 dark soul style 2D indie game, hard and fun. **Super Smash Bros ultimate **9/10 Only gave it a 9 because I suck at it and the multiplayer is laggy as hell. **Grim Dawn **8/10 Diablo 2 like Eldritch horror game. Elder Scroll legends Skyrim and other Elder scroll game lore card game. 8/10 Monster Hunter World 9/10 Dinosaur type monster hunting game, pretty fun. God of War 4 9/10 fun game but it lacks epicness, because its a buildup for future games. Spyro Reignited Trilogy 10/10 nostalgia game. My favorite from the ps1 era remade in PS4 graphics.
I know it didnt came out in 2018 but I just got to play it this year. I fucking love Dark Souls 3. Its insanely beautiful and the music is a masterpiece. I also played Nioh a lot this year but I hated a lot of aspects of the game. Still a nice game tho
