Things I want to see in 2019

Hey everyone. With 2018 coming to a close, we have a new year and new season full of possibilities ahead. Here are some things I'd personally like to see added or changed in the coming year!

I understand that some of us have pretty strong opinions on the current state of the game. Feel free to comment and discuss whatever you please, but if you don't have anything constructive to say, please just refrain from saying it.

#1. Practice Tool Improvements

The practice tool was a really cool addition to the game. I think most of us know that it's pretty lacking, though. Some simple additions I'd like to see added to the practice tool would be:

  • The ability to change target dummies stats. Seeing the base damage of abilities is annoying when having to factor in armor or MR. Also, removing the 10k HP limit on target dummies would open up for more testing from %health abilities.
  • More bots! Currently we can only have one enemy champion on the other team which is unfortunate for trying to test things in different scenarios.
  • Skillshot practice. Adding mobile target dummies on a set path or giving them the AI to juke would be nice for getting used to aiming skillshots.
  • **...skillshot practice again! **Adding target dummies that can actually fire at you would help improve your own juking abilities!

#2. More Maps and Modes!

  • The ability to create RGM custom games like URF, ARURF, One for All, etc. at any time of the year. I'd like to jump in a custom with some friends and fool around with silly URF mechanics.
  • Keep Nexus Blitz permanent! I know this may be controversial to some, but I personally love Nexus Blitz and all it has to offer. It needs some tweaking but I really hope this stays as a new permanent mode.
  • Map skins and new maps altogether! The Magma Chamber was a very cool concept that was never brought to the game, I'd like to see more unique maps from different areas of Runeterra like Shuriman deserts, Zaun slums, and the Bilgewater docks.

#3. More QOL changes.

  • More clarity on abilities such as listing out more stats or ability ranges!

This is a really cool concept: https://imgur.com/xm5Z4fV.png?noredirect

  • Better VFX and sound changes for abilities like the ones we got for Lee Sin.

  • A more stable client! I know some people don't have issues with the client, but mine frequently freezes and when I'm in game I get some FPS drops here and there. It's actually a common problem!

Agree with everything! Hard agree! The only thing I would add is that I want to bring other people in the practice tool with me. It's tiresome to have to play out a 30 minute 1v1 in a custom just for the last few minutes at the end. I would rather just get in, give us enough gold for our build, level us up, tp us there, and duke it out. I even have ideas for how the toolbar would work with multiple people.

all my yes to the last one.

to add onto it, i think riot is doing entirely the opposite of what they should with the tooltips.

the compressed tooltips should only display the current ability values and important numbers.

the expanded tooltips should include the ability descriptions, that arent important anymore when you already know what the ability does.

currently riot does entirely the opposite, and theyre making more compressed tooltips that only have vague descriptions and entirely leave actual values out of them. this is horrible, and needs to stop! i want to know how much damage/shielding/healing/cooldowns etc. my abilities have. when ive played a champion for the 10th time, its unlikely i ever need the full description because i already know what the ability does.

this might be helpful for beginners on a champion, but quickly loses its value.

for most of our gameplay, we just need the information of the current values of our abilities. i dont need to read that "garen rapidly spins his sword around himself" when ive played the champion for 8 years. i dont even need to know that the spin can crit, and shreds armor. just give me the cooldown, and curent damage/spin and total damage in an easily readable format, and put the full description into an expanded tooltip.

Can we also remove that stupid "Press SHIFT to see more info" on some tooltips because that's just annoying

The entire point of the tooltip for abilities is to see what the ENTIRE ability does, no one wants stuff to be left out until you press SHIFT

All of these are logical and essential for this game if Riot wants it to succeed. These are all changes that should have been in the game from the get-go...

However, knowing Riot they likely won't implement any of these features, and if they do they'll half arse it as they always do since they hate doing anything that benefits the casual playerbase.

I absolutely agree with everything you said, also can you imagine being able to play with your friend at the practise tool as well it will make it more easier if for example you are trying to teach them something new. Also the only other thing I would love to see is a new skin for our evil little yordle, Veigar seems ignores. I know a lot of you don't like him but there are some Veigar mains here as well ❤️

I have mixed feelings about Nexus Blitz becoming permanent. I was a hard supporter of it during the original alpha release, and even the start of this release, but as time went on, and with the inclusion of these missions, the game has lost its fun and it's become more of a one sided stomp every time. I think they definitely need to rework some balancing issues (of course, this is all across the board, not just NB) as well as making sure people aren't playing the same 5 champs every game. Definitely getting tired of seeing Jax, Brand, Veigar, Master Yi, etc every game when they manage to get passed the ban.

I want a game mode where I can play who I want without knowing that by picking them, I'm going to lose. That by playing a champ that isn't part of the "meta" that I can still do something for the team.

I would also loooooove to see RGM again. Just, I loved them, they were my favorite, and they were ripped away so quickly. It was so sad.

I have to agree as well. I'd love to see collaborative practice tool, and extra features to help you practice specific moves without throwing a game. Additionally the ability tip clarity improvement would be huge in helping understand champions when playing them for the first time.

Another improvement I would throw out there; although I think it's more of an addition, would be to add a client menu that will allow you to access your (older) saved game replays. This instead of opening those files with the game manually.

Lastly, I'd like brought back the ability to spectate high rank games. When I started playing in S3, I loved watching those to see what people did with champions' synergies and play styles against the current meta, and it helped me understand how the game works. I get that streamers and YouTubers have a much bigger presence nowadays to fill this role, but you can't watch the entire game in replay fashion that way.

Plz.

I love everything you said, love to have a constructive post here and GOD YES THE CLIENT PLEASE RITO.

Gilgayu12/28/2018, 3:22:10 PM3 votes

I'd actually like to see a rework for twisted treeline.

To be frank, I think that mode is trash. 3v3 is an idea worth investing on. SR is 5v5, howlying abyss is 5v5, even noxus blitz is 5v5. 3v3 will probably be more focused on individual skills, rather than just the 5v5 wombo combo (less common these days, but when you have things like j4 galio it's still op).

I would also like to see some new items even if they are mode specific (cough cough bring back the RGM's)

Queen Of Tears12/29/2018, 9:04:38 AM2 votes

How about rank afk forgiveness? In another moba I play, afk forgiveness in ranked was a thing. Essentially if someone DC's for a certain amount of time your lp doesn't take a hit but theirs does. It allows people to climb and not be stuck in the scenario where you DROP A ENTIRE FUCKING RANK because you get a dc 5 times in a row. :):):):):) i hate riot.

Cloudsquawk 12/27/2018, 10:59:43 PM2 votes

Agreed. This is a good list of stuff my dude.

DarkTree112/28/2018, 1:02:23 AM2 votes

pls more maps papa riot. nexus blitz was cool but the aesthetic was pretty much identical to SR and it didn't really introduce any new concepts in general, just recycled stuff from SR. also, rest of the post is good & cool

Very good post. Have a happy New Year :)

Very good post!!! I really like your suggestions for practice tool. It would be awesome to be able to practice hitting and dodging skill shots and to do so with friends. Maybe even add a score tracking so that you can compete with friends. I also hope nexus will stay. It's really good when you want to play some casual quick games with lots of action.

YES! actually I had ideas of changing your runes and champs mid game, changing champs is definitely possible since the tutorial allows for it.

Also adding in a second player, even if they had only limited access to the control bar, would actually be pretty useful, if they don't include it to reduce clutter, maybe even just choose a handful of champs and you can swap into them later on if you want to

maybe even changing sum spell and other features too

#2. More Maps and Modes!

Please god yes

Actually i like the idea, but I'd love for it to host changes from the PBE as an interim, so you'd have PBE and then items that aren't glitchy would basically get into blitz, then tested for long periods of time, maybe even allow all items in all modes into this such as Wooglets and such

  • Map skins and new maps altogether! The Magma Chamber was a very cool concept that was never brought to the game, I'd like to see more unique maps from different areas of Runeterra like Shuriman deserts, Zaun slums, and the Bilgewater docks.

Yes please daddy

#3. More QOL changes.

100% yes

  • A more stable client! I know some people don't have issues with the client, but mine frequently freezes and when I'm in game I get some FPS drops here and there. It's actually a common problem!

Here's some input ideas

A.) Bring back event minion skins if your team has the relevent stuff, so if you have a 5 man project team maybe we could use project minions, same for various other skin lines that had events like pool party, winter, etc.

B.) Can I get a choose random skin option? So out of my skins it would choose a rando one. If the skin it lands on has chromas that i own, it will then again go through a second random cycle (As to not make your beemo chromas count towards your random chance thus making you have way higher chance to have a beemo skin then any other teeto skin if you own all teeto skins)

C.) Custom announcer packs, Things you do will be announced by your announcer to everyone, your custom announcer will announce all other things to you that aren't 'skinned over', like if you have the 'draven announcer pack' and you get a triple kill, it'll say some draven shit to everyone, anything else done by others who have no announcer packs will be overrided for you (Only you) by the draven pack, and if someone has their own announcer pack, things they do will override yours for their own actions. Let's say your buddy has the bard pack, and when you get a triple it's like "Draven gets a triple kill" then your support has the bard pack and it makes chime noises for his double kill to everyone. Your mid laner has no pack so when he slays the dragon you hear draven say "That dragon is dead" while your support hears bard chimes.

Does that make sense?

D.) A skin wishlist, so you can get notified a little more clearly if a skin you want is on sale, could also help with the secret shop events
