Riot incentivises players to become toxic (long read)

Loading screen. Not the most exciting part of the game, is it? You can read other players' nick-names, marvel their champion skins, or just stare at those load percentages, building a strategy in your mind.

But do not worry folks, Riot has our back in this regard.

Here's a question for you all. What part of the game you enjoy the most? What drives you to play lengthy sessions of wins and losses, staying long after twelve knowing that tomorrow you are going to regret that? I can't speak for you gentlemen, but for me it has to be the Lore of the League of Legends. I am not talking comic books or character description page. Haven't touched those in more than 8 years.

The thing that I'm talking about is the place where "Less is More". The place that brings together two opposing teams. Teams who are going to fight to the death seconds later.

The narrow string that separates friends and foes before the final showdown. The string that hosts the piece of the Lore that I read every single time and it keeps me wanting more and more, so I have to keep playing to see another Loading Screen.

But sometimes, I get robbed of that piece of knowledge. An advice from benevolent Riot Games takes its place. Needless to say how pissed I get and how unsatisfying of an experience I receive from gameplay.

But to add insult to injury the advise itself is utter garbage that damages the community big way.

Quote "If someone makes you uncomfortable in game, report them. " Quote end

Now read the title of this post again and think for yourself. Literally anything can make you uncomfortable. Even a champion pick or ward placement. Riot gives a weapon to snowflakes and teaches young generation that the world is a shitty place where you can either swim in shit or watch from outside how bad it is. It's ugly enough that people abuse report system left and right, but incentivizing and encouraging it is like giving a grenade to a civilian. Chat and ping mute option is a good way to avoid any confrontation with "bad" people. Half of my team once muted me because I was doing well on top lane (15/0) and was trying to coordinate team to do objectives and proper team fights. Of course we lost that game. They told me that I was showing off. Nevertheless, they at least muted me, not reported. But following that advice, they could have.

Bottom line: League has the most toxic community I have ever seen period. I've been playing w3 since 2006, dota 2 since first days of beta using those pricy beta keys, WOW, bunch of other MMO RPG games. People didn't change. Rules did.

Your thoughts gens.

Wow. You're trying to justify so hard your incorrect opinion that your feelings matter more than everyone else's.

I have been playing since season 2 and not once have I felt that riot was incentivizing me to be toxic.

And no, league isn't the most toxic community I've ever seen, not by a long shot even in s2, and its gotten better.

You are probably the biggest factor in why you see toxicity. I used to play with an asshole who would flame just about every game. He always bitched and moaned about how toxic league was, but my games werd so pleasant with him around.
