I know most of the complaints of this shit system have come in the form of people wanting to keep their old account name. However, when I updated to the new account the system actually just said "you have a unique account name, you're updated!" which is NOT what I wanted. I made my account name a decade ago and thought I'd have the chance to update it to something new. My PBE account has my preferred name, but I wasn't able to connect my two accounts and use the PBE name as the overarching account name like I thought was possible. I now have a main and PBE account that aren't connected with two separate names, when I thought this was a consolidation.

How the fuck is it possible that both the people who want their names and the people who want new ones are both getting screwed over? The rollout of this shit system is nothing short of a disaster.

It's your login, not your in game name. Even if it asked you to change your username, you'd still be Naalith.

I'm having the same problem. I made my account name when i was 12 and I'd rather not have to pay to change it to something else.

You could ask in game to report you for improper username, every time. maybe the system will let u change for free.

You know I didn't realize how bad this roll out was until you dropped the last two lines. There's a Korean Nexon owned game called Mabinogi that got servers merged into one and a BUTT TON of overriding names. The transition has been overall liked by the community because it was communicated clearly and name changes were rolled out in a generally fair way.

People with name overlaps had server names tagged on like (NA) or (EU) so all users with the same name get equally screwed. Then whoever submits a request first gets to claim the name. The game is a fairly low population dead game almost in NA, but it makes enough off of whales to keep going. It's basically ran by a small indie company in the west and yet it had a fair name change roll out. Even people without the same name could get a name change if they submitted within a certain time period. Riot just doesn't care about anything that doesn't make money which is the irony of big name companies I guess.

The bigger you get the less you care about anything that doesn't pander your stockholders since everything becomes corporate rather than about passion for your game. All the passion gets washed out by the time it reaches you and everyone in the company just shrugs since it's not their responsibility, it's the company's.
