well i remember people exploited stuff in dota 2 during events too, they then sold the stuff in steam market for gaben dollars, i did it too in dota 2 and make on it about 30 euros, valve did nothing about it so yeah. although this one was more like gameplay exploit than actual store exploit but there was these type of exploits in dota 2 as well after i stopped playing for a while though. like unlimited cosmetic item lottery and such. so these things happen in multiplayer games all the time.

I wouldn't be surprised if more people quit because of this, it definitely feels like I've wasted all the money I've spent on this game since some people can just get them for free
what if i told you that skins in this game are worth nothing? you can't trade them or anything, so no actual value, the only value is supporting company with money but otherwise paying for skin as for product is ripoff as the price>quality is not really worth it.
same can say people who bought for example digital dark souls II/III during release date for full price and later publishers decided to put it in humble monthly bundle almost for free, considering there was also other games + share to charity.
