MMR/Placements question...

So I am Bronze one, but my MMR, according to op.gg, is Silver 2 right now. Assuming I don't play anymore ranked before the season starts, what effect will the higher MMR have on my placements? I know there is some sort of formula Riot uses, but I am not clear on how it all works. Will the high MMR help me get placed higher?
