No More Custom Item Sets?

yoyoyo,

I am seeing that riot is not including the Item Set feature in the new client. Please reconsider that decision!

While you may think no-one uses it, I don't see how that could be right. I, and most of the people I play with use it. I make custom sets for all my champs. it lets me quickly build up to the items I want without wasting time in game.

Perhaps I am just not seeing one, but as for third party plugins, None of the ones I am seeing support the creation of CUSTOM sets. They just download info about what has the highest win rate, or what is the most used.

Looking through the items and trying to create better builds is a big part of the fun for me!

If you take them, I will be forced to do research outside the client and, what, write my builds down on paper and fumble through the shop in game?

This change is going to have a really negative impact on gameplay.

Am I the only one here who thinks removing our Custom Item Sets is a bad move?

They said they are looking back into it, and are having more internal disscussions on whether to keep them or not

They really aren't necessary. In ranked you should know what to build and when to build it anyways. Typing a couple letters in the search bar to find the item you're about to purchase while you're casting the spell to go to base is completely viable and doesn't make you take any extra time than someone with a custom set. Learn the items and have them ready mentally. No need for a custom list for each champion. Just wastes server space for very little convenience.

Not everyone plays ranked, and not everyone has been around long enough to have the items memorized. It isn't, and shouldn't be, all about the ranked people who have been playing for years. And server space my butt. Do you have any Idea how much money I have spent on this game? They can afford some server space.

The item sets were never stored on the server, they were on the specific computer they were created on. The reason I know this is because when I used to do clean installs of Windows (after creating custom item sets), the item sets would be gone, and I would have to create them again.

There are absolutely no reasons NOT to have custom item sets in game. They were a good idea, and still are. They should be available for players to use, or not use.

I'm a pretty casual player, and I for one don't think a player should have to memorize ~215 items and what each one does so they can choose appropriately and quickly in a game. "Ain't nobody got time for that."

The item sets were never stored on the server, they were on the specific computer they were created on.

Yes and no. Local copies were kept on the computer, but they are saved server side as well. If you play League on a new computer your item sets transfer automatically.

Next time, please don't necro a thread 6 months old.
