I thought BO3 was fine. The rest of the world thought to, so why change it back to the old outdated BO1?
The rest of the world in competitive League use BO3, but garbage NALCS and EULCS had to be different. You tried BO2 in EULCS which failed, so you changed it to BO3, now back to BO1.
We'll have to see how the NALCS and EULCS goes.
But the moral of the story is: If it ain't broke don't fix it. WTF is wrong with you Riot?

Not gonna lie I thought this was about Call of Duty Black ops and I was like "clearly because of the zombies"

With BO3 you had only a few teams playing each day so people wouldn't watch maybe if their team wasn't playing. With BO1, everyone plays every day so more views. You could also, in theory, squeeze in more games.
That's my logic at least. I'm not sure why the switch either.

I remember they made a big post about this change and the main reason is best of 1's brings in more viewers. A lot people just don't have time to tune into best of 3's. Since esports is about providing a spectacle for people to watch getting people to actually watch is pretty important.
I can only speak for myself, but i went from watching a lot of pro play when it was Best of 1, to having almost no interest when they went to Bo3. There were just too many games to follow.
Look at it this way: Bo3 you can watch 2 full hours and essentially see no result, or Bo1 you can tune in for 2 hours and see 2 deciding games and 4 teams.
I was thinking CoD this whole time LOL Bo1/Bo2 were the best call of duties btw (it's mathematically proven I am a math man I know these thinsg don't test me) (/s)
I think BO3 is the best way to go.
BO1 is better for starting, there are too many teams which takes up too much time for BO3's. Majority of tournaments do BO1 because it's more efficient and provides viewers with better games. Only games that should have ever been BO3 are the Quarterfinals and Semifinals.
If Worlds is on a best of 1 format for a part of it, so should the split which creates world contenders.
