What would happen if Riot added in a new division under Bronze?
What would happen? How many people would be demoted? Would it be a good change?

Assuming riot doesn't adjust mmr at all such that it becomes like an expanded B5, I expect you would see quite a few demoted.
It might make a number of people significantly more upset, but on the other hand it would give these hardstuck players a means to see progress in their rankings.
