Why do you keep playing this game?

Even the company makes fun of you for playing it! They know about tilt and toxicity in the game and how they chose to address it? They made a video to make fun of you! Why is this ok?

I mean, I didn’t feel belittled by that video at all. If anything, it felt like an in-joke I was part of, that also brought awareness to the times I’ve been a bad teammate because I am pretty akin to the first example. I’m passionate, but that passion occasionally leads me to make desperate plays from behind that put me even further behind. I don’t lose gracefully so to speak, and soft int. All in a vain attempt to prove myself to my teammates.

But why do I play? Because I enjoy the diversity and flexibility of play styles. I’ve always been a huge advocate for off-meta strats, builds, and lanes. It keeps the game fresh and offers a consistent challenge. It also allows me to do one of my favourite things in games; theory craft. On the fly in-game and when doing menial work. That’s why I play. As a mental exercise in creative problem solving that distracts from the mundane in my life.

Because it's the best turd out of the shit pile that is most of modern gaming.

There's no better MOBA.

Dang dude riots making fun of me because they made a joke about tilting. Maybe you should listen to your own name. Every company makes fun of toxic behavior in their games.

Because it’s a great game ... why do you play something you obviously hate ?

where is this video? How come I haven't seen it yet?

I play it as its currently the best multiplayer game to play with others and friends. Also none of my friends want to play anything else but this and occasional Rainbow 6.

There is a drought in games as of late.. A lot of people in this game are just waiting for the next big game.

Audhulma9/8/2019, 6:00:06 PM2 votes

I don't. I got off the hamster wheel a long time ago, and only ever briefly come back for a few games.

I can't convince my friends to play any other games I enjoy and don't have the means to get a larger circle of friends.

I have fun playing League: I enjoy the world, the characters, the lore, the pro scene hype, ranking up, playing with friends for free, the nostalgia (I've played this game for nearly a decade now), really just everything.

Sure there's toxic players but that's just human. It's not like I won't find toxic players in other games so that's not really a deterring factor for me (plus I can basically negate them by queueing with positive players and by muting people who are toxic).

Jakra9/8/2019, 9:06:18 PM1 votes

Because it's fun and I don't give a shit about people who don't agree with me on the matter.

¯_(ツ)_/¯

Let me give you an example of why I play this game, still:

Last night, I queued up with Ashe. I had a Leona support, an Ekko Jungle, an Akali mid, and a Vlad top. I played out of my mind, that game, and so did Leona. I got 10 kills in 17 minutes before I was shut down, and that was my first death the entire game. My support was there, the jungler ganked, and we got the first tower of the game seconds before the enemy top laner took ours. Our top laner was having a rough time, but we didn't really hold it against him, since the enemy top laner was Heimerdinger , who is a pain in the ass. Then I got cocky and ended up lagging out during the mid game. Ekko and Akali picked up my slack, but we got aced. The enemy team pushed down mid, got our inhibitor, and both nexus turrets. For a second, I thought we'd lost. But then we won our teamfight, pushed down mid, and got their inhib. But then, the enemy support tried a back door. Fortunately, that Vlad, the same Vlad who'd had the rough game to that point, was there to hold him off long enough for me to recall. That Vlad actually saved our game! And I made a point of telling him so. The game progressed and both inhibs were restored. Akali made a play to get the inhib, and succeeded. For the final, game-winning push. The entire team tried to chase Leo, and then my fully built, 100% crit Ashe came back. It was 2v5, and I got a pentakill. I didn't even realize that I had gotten a pentakill until I had gotten the pentakill. Death timers were over a minute, so we closed out the game for a victory.

But wait, it gets better. Throughout the game, NO ONE FLAMED. No one flamed that Vlad, Leona and I had AMAZING synergy, I always made sure to thank her for facilitating my kills, and I thanked my team for the penta. They said that I was a God on my first Legendary streak. And, like I said, Vlad ended up saving the entire game for us. I wound up with 2 friend requests in that game. And the runtime of that game was > 40 minutes.

Yeah, a lot of games aren't like this, but games that are even half as awesome as this one make it all worthwhile. And I do agree that the joke about tilt is a symptom of the problem in this community. Instead of talking about tilt, talk about when you play out of your head and carry. Instead of toxicity, talk about positivity. Instead of "FF@15," let's go back to "80 minutes the dream."

It's been addressed before many times, this is another method. They chose to shed light on some issues in an entertaining way, and give you suggestions on how to handle negativity based on how you felt about it.

Seems more like you just want to complain about whatever comes your way.

I just assumed this was a post regarding game quality. But nope.... literally just a beyond dumb post instead. If you really took offense to that video then... that just says a lot about you not going to lie.

Because I am still having fun after 8 years. I like fast pace action and depth. There's just the right balance of casual approach where I can just play with my friends and have a good time, and depth where I can queue up for ranked to put my skills to the test. The game changes every 2 weeks, which while it can lead to balance issues, it keeps the game fresh and interesting. I quit overwatch in season 3 because the game just didn't balance often enough. I stopped playing diablo III once the patches weren't adding more content. I beat most single player games once then don't touch them again. It takes a hell of a title to get me to replay it.

The only other genre that I can replay time and time is rogue-lites. As long as the game has variance I can play. Competitive multiplayer games have a certain level of variance due to player skill and decision making, that's why I can play multiplayer games a lot more than single player. I played codblops 4 when that came out and had such a good time that I got the black matter camo. That involves getting 100 headshots then completing 5 specific challenges for EVERY gun.

League has this variance. Even if you fight against the same champion 5 games in a row, each different player is going to put their own spin on how they play it. It's analyzing their playstyle and trying to defeat it that I have fun with. Not everybody likes this variance, hence why I have a friend who has played through the first ace attorney game over 10 times.

I do play other games, sometimes I play them more than league, sometimes less. But if I go like 2 days without playing league, I grow the desire to play it, rather than just using it as a medium to shoot the shit with my friends.
