Silver Vs. Gold

Why is the skill level of players in Gold so drastically different than Silver? Honest question it's that time of year again everyone scrambles for the last few bumps to gold for end of season rewards and now with chromas for hitting 2 or more queues it's getting pretty heated. Going to 3v3 and ranked flex (both of which i'm mid silver) from Solo Queue (mid gold) is like day and night. Yes different queue etc etc.. Other than the obvious differences the skill level is so widely scattered (though I wouldn't say there are many good players at this elo just one's that throw less often than others). Is there really a huge gap in skill between the 2 or am I just seeing a small grouping of mediocre to downright terrible players?

Terrible players. I've seen players in bronze with great mechanics and all, but at the end of the day what separates ranks is decision making.

probably because gold players know that you need a tank so it makes it look like they are better because they dont run 5 dps like silvers.

I notice a drop off in general skill level when it goes from gold to play, specficially plat 5-4
