Lolking is shutting down in 2 weeks
May the site rest in peace.
May the site rest in peace.
haven't used it in years after i found op.gg
That sucks... it was the only resource I know of to see skins in their 3D models.
But I'm not surprised. I think the site design turns off a lot of people. I prefer cleaner and brighter interfaces like op.gg
oh how times have changed, end of an era
What??? RIP Lolking =(
Huh. Really shows the times I guess.
RIP
Nobody uses it anyway so
What the fuck.
I use Lolking's model viewer all the time.
Guess I have to go to Skin Spotlights now...
Straight downvote, because you didn't note half of their sites go rip as well...
Some are already down (yet the links are still on the front page lol), some will be soon™ - lolking included, and i have a bad feeling for everquest.
Oh and are updating the Hearthstone site (hi blizz!).
I think you know where am i going, especially with the recent events in WoW... and the fact there are way more famous sites - both for guides (check ashe ie) and for chara stats - it is easier to type op.gg instead of lolking.com after all right :d
Makes sense I guess - and it has nothing to do with 'league dying'. The site was incredibly slow (pretty much unusable) for the last couple of years. The articles were made redundant by Surrender@20 as well as the fact that a lot of their content ended up being covered by LoL Esports, Riot, Team Organizations, individual players, etc. Tier Lists made a lot of their 'champs to watch' articles pretty redundant. OP.gg player/game look-up was way easier (because LoLKing was way too slow).
LoLKing simply never adapted an was made redundant.
no u
I'd only use it to see champ models. Is there another way to view them without it?
The guides are community created and supported. I remember seeing the one for Ezreal that had an MS pain and I found it very "basic," but it had the highest support. Whereas there was 2 REALLY good guides on Nasus during season 3 when Riven Top was considered "pick or ban cause you sure as hell can't counter" and they weren't really popular despite the creators legit telling you step-by-step how to lane for each match up i.e. lvl up Nasus E to lvl2 vs Teemo or w Jayce then E Q him before he gets into range to melee E you or wait until lvl9 to kill Renekton. The only reason it got popular was because "it was better than Mobafire" and that's cause the platform they used at the time allowed for more indepth details on certain match ups. I tried to make a lolking guide for Leona, but couldn't finish it cause when it came right down to it, there was a lot of micro stuff I couldn't afford to simply generalize - pros and cons of time needed to invest into it vs potential gains wasn't worth it.
As times progress, more sites offered champion guides besides the OGs such as TSM, ProBuilds, Mobafire, lolking, and I think there might have been another. Right now, arguably one of the best is champion.gg, but with the game being the way it is, you don't really need guides imo. The reason they die out is cause its creators sort of got lazy and weren't able to keep up with their market. Like they were trying to market the "we as a community" BS.
Like I said, the only good thing about lolking's guides was the details on lane match ups and those were really based on the players who created them. If they had chosen to invest into finding the one tricks in high ELO solo q ladder to pay them to create guides on their champions like say $5000 (anyless and its basically fucking charity or they're being taken advantage of so they might as well deny and do it for another site) each which includes all the match up details + keep up to date for next 3 patches with some standards required for each guide, they could retain their value. However, they went with the other route which was "pay pro teams money to make BS guides and sell their name."
Something something insert League is dying comment here
They did a weird redesign a couple years ago that basically made the site unusable for me. It's sad because before then, that was my go-to site. For years it watch. Then they tried to get all fancy with huge horrible graphics and I just switched to op gg
You mean now I have to go to mobafire for champ guides?
cuz op.gg is just better, i can barely do anything on lolking because the shear amount of ads make the site so so so slow compaired to op.gg
RIP Leaguecraft miss you
No users because the site has too many ads? Quick, more ads!
Gah. I used model viewer for reference drawing. Now where do i go
lolking used to be nice - but the interface got really heavy at one point (struggling to load the content - lagging while browsing through it). So i switched to something else.
Did it also show premade status as lolnexus? I really miss this perk. Seems premade groups did badly so our beloved Rito had to remove it.
i thought op.gg stopped working when riot changed their program type.
