This might come off as a pretty stupid question, but what happened to re-rolling champion shards?

As I said in a previous post, I took a vacation from league for 2 years. I'm still getting used to a lot of the new shit I'm seeing (rune pages are still throwing me off lmao) and I thought I was just starting to get comfortable till I get a champion capsule. When I clicked the shard, it didn't have a re-roll option. I thought "Ok, maybe they just took re-rolling out." but then I went to look at a skin shard I got from a hex tech chest and it had the re-roll option. So can you just not re-roll shards anymore or is it just temporarily out of commission? Would really like to know since I'm really confused (and I have shards for Katarina (owned), Garen (owned), and Gangplank (dont care) lmao). Thanks!

Because of champ capsules you get an assured 810(?) Blue essence disenchanting gaurenteed. This generally means you could get 3 450 champs and then reroll.

Though currently with just 1 skin shard of a champion, upgrading via champ shard for a 4800 BE champ saves abput 2000 blue essence. So, its not a horrible tradeoff.

riot didn't want you to be able to reroll shards of 450BE champions for one more expensive

They disabled it so that their system better encouraged you to buy champions with RP.

Riot's main priority is to earn money, so they got rid of it.

Because with the new BE/leveling system, you earn a bunch of champion shards, whereas before you only got them from chests.

Due to the decreased rarity, they had to change the system.

Riot realized it was beneficial to the players so they immediately removed it.
