Just because you warding doesn't make you support

I've seen several complaints (primary against teams that use ap "supports") that they did more damage then X on their team. But my real question in line here goes...What makes you the support. What is the role of support? Most general basic answer is person who wards/person who heals.

Think of this season pass few months, I've seen more AP supports then most seasons playing nuke wars. Lux, Brand, if you really WANT to add Pyke simply due to his ult shares the love.

Personally I just don't see damage being a primary way of saying I did better then anyone. I play AP Teemo and it's rare anyone out damages me but I know like hell I'm not the carry I'm just the taunt of the team.

What is more important these days? The damage support? Or the CC support?

Support: Help your team through any means to win the game just don't farm during laning.

If your support lux is doing better than your midlane ahri, isn't the lux your apc at that point? I really don't see the problem with mage/damage supports.

That lux or brand doesn't just bring Damage, they also bring cc and in lux' case a teamwide shield if the circumstances are right.

The main reason why you have seen more AP supports this season is because damage is so high that peel supports feel useless and tank supports are still good but they just can’t be as good of a frontline as they used to be. It’s just better to be a high damage support so you can kill the enemy before they kill you. Luckily they did solve this issue somewhat by nerfing damage runes but it’s not enough to bring peel supports back to where they belong. Peel supports don’t need buffs it’s just that damage needs to be nerfed.

maybe warding and vision control should be the defining aspect of supports. Having more tools to create and deny vision could give them a proper role to fulfill, other than being the underfed guy who has to make the best with what he has and who has 3 additional wards.

everything you can do as a tank support could be done better by a toplane tank everything you can do as a mage support can be done better by a midlane mage or you play an enchanter which pretty much makes you a walking item for your adc

I mean how do you want to sell someone the support role?

"yeah, so imagine playing a tank or a mage, but being chronically underfed no matter how good you perform and your goal is to be less useless than the enemy support."
