Again Why isn't Galio used more?

The new mysteries speak for themselves, some people say he doesn't do much damage, but his E believe it not hurts..

I've tried to play him against every known Sin this game has to mid and so far he does what most can't do. Besides a lil mana troubles early game, he literally can excel for getting someone stuck in his taunt while ganked and get pretty much an instant kill.

I've even saved my adc a few times using his ultimate and even his W.

People like Leblanc or Ryze do almost no damage to him at all, even Veigar catches some hell because of the MR build on Galio.

Back to the masteries, they increase his damage Output when he is hit and even barrier when he ults o.o.

He's kiteable as fk, has horrible early game mana problems, and is reliant on your opponent being Gohan.

God damn it Nappa.

People find him boring and think he's weak because he feels so bad to play. People only play him when he's a free win in featured game modes.

I played a decent amount of Galio earlier last season. Obviously he's strong against AP heavy teams but aside from that he's pretty lackluster. You shouldn't have to burn your flash every time you want to get a good ult off, not to mention he gets knocked out of his ult pretty easily. Honestly besides the fact that YOU'RE GALIO he's just not that fun to play.

Now if Riot could add a dash to his ult...

Mana issues early and melee CSing despite his main damaging abilities being ranged.

coeurloyal1 votes

^^ That. He's too easy to harass when CSing, unless you're going to pop your W every time you hit a minion--which will bleed out all your mana within the first three waves. Any good ranged mid should be able to harass him pretty heavily.

I was going to try and explain why but I got bored thinking about Galio.....

Faker is a player in the LCS. you never said that galio had to be played at LCS.

there is no difference where he is played, this is a team comp setting with great high elo players.

because most people watch non lcs competitive lol -_-

not only that in the video YOU linked the commentators said faker didnt even master the champion yet and was working on making a name for himself on that champion.

im telling you galio is perfectly fine aside from his ult being easily stopped.

everybody just judges galio by his cover and assumes hes trash

but hes not, hes amazing.

He's good against assassins. Probably would work well in this meta. No you don't need to build every mr item on him

ChaddyFantome1 votes

Because he is boring and derpy looking.

Meep Man1 votes

Because you only play Galio if you don't want to die and you would probably much rather play Mundo Top for that. Only pick Galio against DoT Mages or high attack speed, low CC comps.

I personally like Galio, but I prefer to only play him into a double AP team. It makes it a little hard to do if you are one of the first picks in the game. But I'll definitely be playing him more this season.

I think people underestimate just how good his wave clear is and his flash ult engages are on the same level as annie imo.

Current meta though is highly AD focused in the top lane/jungle, and even some AD mids are getting popular again so Galio isn't quite as effective atm, but still a solid pick.

I think the general complaints you see here are true though. He is a little boring and he is pretty predictable.

XxxLumberJackxxX2 votes

Annies flash engage has range. Galio can really only peel with his ult

Oglaf1 votes

Because he "isn't cool".

Very Hard Engage1 votes

people dont play galio because they dont like long casts, predictive, and low damage mid laners.

coupled with melee auto attacks it leaves for inexperienced players falling behind on creeps making him even more of a lackluster option.

but once you get around that, he flashes, presses R, and wins the late game.

also its really hard for him to 100-0 someone, even full kit max R and Q + E with an ap build it still might be out of combo range.

but he wins team fights

I don't know if Courage would be very good on him since it would only work on his Ultimate which he already gets damage reduction for, sure there is the 2 seconds left after you finished ult which the shield might be needed but I just feel Deathfire for Mid lane, or Grasp for top lane would be better.

As for why no one plays him? I play him occasionally if I feel we are lacking a tank (and I'm mid) or if we don't have enough team fight CC. I think a lot of people are just going to wait for his rework since I believe he is the next rework champion which I hope we have more information of before preseason is over.

Yea he might be. I know that Riot said that the next 2 reworks was Galio and Warwick but wasn't sure which was suppose to be first. I'd personally think Galio should be first but wouldn't mind it to much if WW was first.

People value non galio champs more than they value galio. I would certainly pick Leblack, Ryze or veigar into Galio and be far more useful. If the Galio in question wasn't really good, I would have a lot of kill pressure in lane and if he was good he would have no pressure on me. I would be more threatening in roams and teamfights. I would also not be bottle necked into making forced decisions to get "Enough" value out of my R. In the event my team fell very behind, there would still be things to do, because i'm not playing Galio vs a team that doesn't have to care about a telegraphed lockdown.

FYI he's schedules for a complete make up. Next up is Warwick and then Galio. Don't know what direction they will take with him but he's likely to play quite differently. No idea how he's a priority over champs like evelynn and urgot thought?

Urgot HONESTLY is in a sleeper spot, Yes his early game sucks balls, but his passive alone makes people really underestimate that damage reduction and armor reduction with his E. Armor Pen on him just hurts like a mother o.o

I agree. Urgot is sleeper but I wouldn't mind him being updated a bit so as to not get flamed for playing him. But yeah the combination of item 3071 and item 3025 on him makes him deceptively devastating.

Mastery 5 Gatekeeper Galio, checking in!

He's very boring. The only time he gets serious playrate is when he's too strong: URF and Poro King. He is strong otherwise, but his normal strength isn't enough to offset how not fun he is for most people.

He's got high mana costs, simple spells, and slow moving skillshots. His ultimate is super fun to use but is often gated by Flash. It also has a pretty long cooldown itself for the amount of potential destruction it can cause. It also isn't very fun to be harassed when taking creeps in melee range, even though he is balanced around that. Lastly, it's less favorable to pick him into attack damage based teams, so people save him as a counterpick when they see AP champions. First picking him isn't a good idea.

Stephenizgod1 votes

Galio is strong, specially against Ap teams, but he is fairly easy to deal with. He has mana issues early game, if he is poking with his Q or E he will run out of mana super quick. He has no mobility so as long as you are capable of kiting, he can't really do anything except flash. His ult can be cancelled by auto-attack CC like Udyr's Bear Stance or Xin Zhaos' Q. His ult is useless unless he has flash or their entire team just randomly jumps on him... which would be moronic unless you can insta kill him.

He is strong though if you know what you are doing, he is damn near impossible to dive and ganking him is like ganking Illaoi, you risk getting double killed. His poke is super strong and his HP sustain is really good, specially against champions that have DoT's. He can build tanky or Ap and still be useful if you land your ults, and he shuts down AP heavy teams.

Because he cant ward jump or hook, so people find him uninteresting
