If you can't UNDERSTAND English.

Note: I said if you can't understand English, didn't say you had to speak it. But I'll be damn I ran into maybe four teams the other night with premade Chinese. Pinging can only help so much, but when team chat is flooded with Chinese I'm feeling like the oddball out because I'm DOING everything I can to communicate with my teammates. But they played worst then bots....

It is on the NA server... you should at least have the decency to speak English in chat. At least every once in ahwile. It's rude otherwise. Like me going to France and just expecting them to know English to help serve me is ridiculous. Same for league.

That's the point I'm trying to make, defeats the whole point of the NA server. The whole logic behind Riot is "You should make a premade to keep this from happening." There excuse for anything in rank is "Make a premade, Make a premade"

Because me saying I can't support a team or work with a team in coordination because I cant understand mean clearly means I'm attacking them. Yes your logic is up there with Steven Hawkings.

Okay man go play a game and mute your whole team and just use pings. I want to see how far you get by without getting pissed. I promise you by the the twenty minute mark you will catch the same hell as me.

I've played with plenty that can't, especially since I played before the BR server opened. I guess I'm just a more open minded person than you and realize that working with them while people like you work against them gives me an advantage over playing with an average team. Thanks for that I guess.

How do you work someone thst literally can't understand you? I mean we can all work together in the minor he stunned I'll follow up ways. But not in the major strategizing of inhibitors then baron then drag. That comes off hazier and less concrete in understanding. Through just pings.

Pings actually are able to communicate that kinda perfectly, probably more efficient than typing it too. I've pinged out primary -> secondary objectives before, seemed to work fine for me. As far as able to understand you, I've worked with people in my job that couldn't or struggled to understand me, nothing but good experiences with hard workers so far on that front.

Exactly, we would expect them to speak English, as they would because it is polite and seen as taboo if you don't. But overall your missing the fact that it is on our "soil" so to speak. So speaking English is polite and forcing us to have to use your language to communicate is rude, unless it is Spanish then it's borderline since that is our secondary language. X shrugs X

Yea... NA servers. There are Asian servers for people to use their language on. I don't have a problem with playing with Chinese Korean etc as long as they can 1. Understand English or 2. Not try to make me understand their language and politely listen to pings.

That's kind of the case regardless of language, people who ignore pings (same as those that ping the obvious in someones face, like yellow ping as they're running from a fight) are annoying to play with.

Also if you can't be understanding of those that can't speak English, too bad get over it.

I'm understanding of them, just pick one of the two. Options I gave. Me looking at Korean and being helplessly confused doesn't help anything when no one else besides your pre-made understands what it says. If your going to speak Korean/Chinese go to the Korean server. Easy as thst.

I'm pretty sure most Americans know that people from France speak French. Also, since it's in Europe, odds are that half of them know at least a little English anyways. English is used throughout Europe, it's just not usually the dominant language, and it's usually a different form of English since what we speak is bastardized Spanglish......English is a European language in it's roots after all.......

I think it's great there are different Languages, however at the end of the day I want to just spend less hell playing a game with people I can communicate with. It's bad enough I deal with Premades, It's bad enough I deal with only being able to use "Fill." or wait ten minutes for a game. If I wanted to have to force myself on more languages I would of asked Riot to make a League Global Server.

You must be confused. I'm not talking about in game stuff. It's ridiculous to whine about what you're whining about. My money says they were trolling you from the get go. Either way, it's one game, and they have the right to play on our servers if they want to. I'm happy that they came to visit us. Besides, last time I checked, most teams don't communicate for shit so who cares if one that communicates is doing it in a different language. Like I said, odds are you got trolled so hard that it tilted you onto the boards. My post however, is referring to this thing called real life, which is what was being addressed in the post that it was a response to. Just because you're in a bad mood and want to complain about the game does not mean that I share your attitude on it.

To correct a few incorrect things I saw: A. No one thinks it's great there are different languages. It's a barrier that holds back our species. B. There are different servers more for the purpose of reducing lag and ping by seperating the player base into different groups, and by providing servers that are closer in general to the location that they are playing from. It has nothing to do with language. NA also includes Mexico and Canada which speak Spanish and French (along with English in the case of Canada) respectively.

Well we are not talking about lag, ping, we are talking about NA sever in General. I Can careless if you chinese, german, france, spanish. If you are on a NA server you should still be able to understand ENGLISH. EVEN BROKEN English would be acceptable.

cuddlykitten41 votes

I'm talking about lag and ping because that's the real reason to the scenario that you posed the wrong reason for. There are pings, that is universal. If the pings didn't work then it's because they flat out weren't listening to you. They could ignore you in English as easily as any other language. Yet again though, I tell you, you were getting trolled most likely. The odds of just four Chinese people being in an NA server are pretty small. At that rate, why not bring the full team with you? Why not go to the NA server solo? If they're in actual China then their ping would be awful and they'd be spiking all game. Makes zero sense to go to that server just to play if you're going to end up with one odd man out. If they were playing bad (assuming you can truly tell the difference between bad playing and lag spiking) then odds are that they were four Americans who either knew Chinese, or were faking it under the assumption that you didn't know if it was real Chinese or not, that were just there to troll you. Make bad plays, ignore pings, Chinese (or fake Chinese) in chat only, English in voice chat, watch 5th man squirm, laugh, profit. This is further made more likely by the fact that there are plenty of people on here that will speak in English, but then when they start to troll will switch to jibberish or whatever language they happen to know. It's not uncommon. You just fell for it is all.

Troll is only good if it's actually pissing someone off, this wasn't the case. Hell at one put for giggles I opened up Google Translate and pretty much copy pasted some of the stuff they were saying after game. Lag has zero to do with being bad. Lag isn't going stop someone from pinging. If you refuse to ward that's not lag, if you refuse to go to dragon that is not lag, if you can't build your champion with decent items and die in 2 hits that's not lag. They started champ select and ended the game with chinese. There is no profit from losing,

The only option was to USE pings. If they were premade and using voice chat then at least Their coordination would of benefited which it didn't period.

Actually, it's pretty obvious that they pissed you off a lot. That's why you're so defensive right now, and eager to argue with anything anyone says even though no one here is trying to argue with you. I"m telling you, you got trolled. Accept it and move on.

I came here to make a POINT lol. Yes I am pissed about it, it's wasting 20+ minutes of my time. Unless there is a there a series of trolls just doing it for shits and giggles I don't find it fun.

My issue was the FACT that if you can't understand english don't play on the NA server. I didn't say they couldn't speak chinese/french/whatever.

So lets reverse it for a moment. Lets say I couldn't respond to them and lets say they are trying to talking to me. What they reportable for refuse to communicate to team?

I actually think it's great there are different languages.

  1. It preserves individual cultures.
  2. It's been proven learning another language is beneficial to intelligence.
cuddlykitten41 votes
  1. Language doesn't preserve cultures. Tradition does. Languages evolve over time. The word cool used to mean a temperature, then evolved to mean something people found to be neat or impressive, back to being used for temperature again. Languages evolve with the times, it by no means preserves anything. It only provides a barrier between different cultures.
  2. It's been proven that learning ANYTHING is beneficial to intelligence. That's what learning is.

It's also mostly spoken in ONE area of Canada you know how I know that O____O I use to travel there. But I know they understand english quite well. Which once again for the 5th time. If you don't **UNDERSTAND English **then don't play on the North America Server.

You don't need anything other than pings to communicate... from bronze all the way to challenger level. We've said this since season 1. "Mute everyone in your team and enemy's team at the beginning of the match. You will get reported A LOT less, you will report A LOT less, and you will be less stressed out significantly.

Whether or not your team played worse than bots, that's just how some games go even on way higher and actually competitive ranks. Maybe you should take a break from rank until you get a bit better, improve your win/loss ratio and hopefully increase your MMR so you get matched with slightly better players (on paper)? You're at a 47% win rate not really showing you deserve to stay in that rank really. With that kind of win rate in the previous ELO system, you would have been demoted long ago and be back in silver.

And again you don't need to type shit to communicate with other people. However, I have noticed an increase in Chinese players here but the reason behind them is boosting; not Chinese players simply wanting to play here.

You can't win if you can't play as a team, how many times has it been said over and over that communication is the key to victory. Well if there is no communication there is Zero team.

Eevee In A Jar1 votes

Again I say again you don't need to talk to communicate. All you need to communicate is by using pings. If teammates refuse to cooperate, then just accept the loss and move on. Moping about one loss isn't going to solve anything and you can never stop people from cooperating with you or you can't force them to do it either.

That's like trying to tell people how to feel after their loved ones passed away. Some want to make jokes and laugh. Some want to stay quiet. Some want to sob for all to hear. You can't tell people what to do. Do you think those Chinese players WHO CAN'T SPEAK ENGLISH are going to come to the forums, read your post, and go "OOHHH I GET IT, I understand now I'm sorry."

And finally, most of these Chinese players understand full well how to speak English. Chinese people aren't dumb and English is actually somewhat common language in China; obviously not as common as Cantonese and Mandarin but it is slowly becoming a universal language there like Spanish is to US and French is to regions of Canada/England.

They're playing at the same level of play as you with the communication difficulties as part of the factor in them playing at your level. Shut up, adapt, and do your part. In acting like others they may encounter you're part of the reason they're not higher than they are. If you realize that, be more open minded and work with them maybe you'll win.

Just like when I played 4 man premades we'd play based on what kind of objective play we saw the 5th man going for instead of expecting him to adapt to us, it improved our performance. Get over it and adapt, if you lost it was partially due to you being close minded.
