So I've been spamming anime, from a person who's never watched anime before.

And I gotta say, it's not as bad as people make it out to be, sure beats any of the American cartoons. I've currently watched Kabaneri of the iron fortress, tokyo ghoul, attack on titan, and currently watching No.6. If anyone has any suggestions on good Anime's, be sure to post them down below. I'm really into post apocalyptic type shit, so if there's any good PA's, lemme know that too.

Does it have to be like super-action-y PA? Because Kamisama no Inai Nichiyoubi (Sunday Without God) is also PA, but it's more plot driven rather than simply action-oriented.

If you really like that wasted future thing try Cowboy Bebop, Trigun, Desert Punk.

Welcome to the wonderful world of anime, here is your weeb card, don't lose it.

There is so much interesting stuff waiting to be discovered, I'll drop you a few of the classics but if you want to dig deeper feel free to check out my list.

Berserk: Midevil Swords and demons and blood and GUTS! One of the best MC in any show I have ever seen. Don't let the older animation style fool you, there is so much depth and beauty in this show if you give it a chance. Oh and and only watch the 1997 version, the new one is hot garbage and will result in an permanent revoking of your weeb card.

Fullmetal Alchemist (brotherhood is the more popular version but I think I started with the original they tell the same basic story just brotherhood has better animation and a different ending if I recall, watching them both is great): Amazing story about two brothers in a world where alchemy is real.

Code Geass: One man who wants to change the world, and he gets the power to make anyone do whatever he wants one time. This is my all time favorite, it starts out looking like something much simpler but it just keeps growing and growing and the characters just keep surprising you and there is a little bit of everything great about anime. To top it all off it has what is considered to be one of the best endings for a show which is pretty rare when so many shows start off good but end with a dud.

Steins;Gate : If you like time travel this is the show to watch, do not fall for the trap of the first few episodes being "slow". That is called character development and it is essential to telling a good story.

Madoka Magica: Get to episode 3

That should be enough to get you started, I'll leave a link to my MAL list if you are interested in more. Anything I rate an 8 or higher should have something that makes it worth checking out.

Hmm

So for starters I'd suggest you check out Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron Blooded Orphans. The gundam franchise is massive, but this one is one of the standalone "alternate universes" The AU shows are much more accessible as they do not rely on past works in the main timeline.

Since you mentioned post apocalyptic, I'd suggest Gargantia on the Verduous Planet as well. Not the best mecha show out there, but a solid one.

Of course there's also Neon Genesis Evangelion, but I'm only going to recommend it with a warning that you will either love it or hate it. It's not readily apparent that it's post-apocalyptic, but there's a reason they're on Tokyo 3.

Shangri-La is another post-apocalyptic show that I'd suggest; it's not a stellar show (though a lot of the hate it's gotten was because it was overhyped), but it's not a bad one either and it's got a good take on PA.

If you want a movie go watch Patema Inverted.

Outside of PA again, there's Madoka. I'm probably not going to be the only one recommending this. It's probably best not going into this one cold - pick a show in the magical girl genre first and watch it, then go watch Madoka (traditional ones might be Cardcaptor Sakura and Sailor Moon, but if you want seinen go watch Lyrical Nanoha).

After Madoka go watch Yuuki Yuuna.

Watch Blood Blockade if you enjoy x-men and boku no hero.

Mostly character development & worldbuilding in the 1st season, 2nd season is more fun.

There's plenty of good anime but there's also some really bad shovelware and even good mainstream series can often suffer from generic tropes, filler and fanservice. There's a reason people meme about anime being trash, while there's plenty of gold to enjoy you can often find yourself wading through garbage to find the next good show.

God Eater is PA and, although I didn't like it much, it must be relatively popular since it's based off multiple games.

Schwarzesmarken is another one, but the ending is trash tier IMO. Not to mention it's just the ending for that particular group - the shit going on around the world is still a thing, so it's basically an isolated story in a larger universe.

FMA: Brotherhood, without a doubt.
