RIOT; about the upcoming Assassin update

First of all English is not my native language, Sorry for it.

Over the years there were always some issues about Assassins.

"Assassin" comes from "Hashassins" which you guys already know. What an assassin should do, how it works?

Answer is simple, they are fragile but they can take down a targertvery quick in stealthy way or tricky. In league of legends, most of the assassins have AoE damage. Talon is an assassin but he plays like a bruiser. He goes in 1v5, kills his target plus he deals unnecessary damage to others. This isnt a defination of an assassin.

Rengar is an assassin always was and always will be, if he is ultra fed, he jumps 1v5, kills enemy adc, maybe sometimes even support, then he keeps dealing massive damage before he dies.

Lb is actually an assassin but people play her as a DPS mage. Because her damage is too much comparing to her CD's. Veigar can 1 shot a target, so does LB. Veigar is being played for his massive burst and his CC. Lb is played for utility mage. You cant gank her, she has no issues agaisnt any other mid laners, in the worst scenario she will roam to bot whenever she wants and get feed easily. This creates some serious issues, since she can get easily snowball, her damage will always be more than a typical DPS mage. Because they can't snowball as easily as LB.This is all happening because her kit doesn't work like an assassin. She deals massive damage to anyone.

I want to you make assassins even stronger, or broken but balancing them into killing only 1 target.

So, an ideal team can have 1 assassin every game. Jungler, Top, Mid doesn't matter. The fedness level of assassin will be determined as how fast he can kill his target compared to enemy assassin's. So its gonna be basically a secret war between 2 assassins.

This is what you should do to balance them, converting them to a fighter won't change anything. Jarvan isnt an assassin he is a diver but he can do better than most of the assassins in the game which creates more issues.

If you somehow change Assassins damage from mostly AoE to single target, and giving their skills more damage but increasing CD's massively you will balance them. Enemy assassin will try to kill your adc, yours will try to kill Enemie's. So, basically whom's support is the best, he will win the game. This is how an assassin gamestyle should work. In every other moba game, actually in every game, every book, every movie this is how assassins work. They kill one target then they leave. Because they can't fight. But zed, rengar, kha,lb,akali will never leave. Because they are more fighter than an assassin.

Sorry again for my Bad english but I hope you guys understood what I meant to say.

Maybe some changes on ARMOR PEN calculations will help to solve 3 assassin team's. Let them deal no damage to tanks but lifesteal can work differently so in a 1v1 situation an assassin wont be able to kill a tank but he will survive at least.

Yes LeBlanc has utility and AOE, but until very lategame, the majority of her damage is still Q procs which are single target. The W range is also very small. She only gets one chain outside of using her ult for another, but if she chains two, it's unlikely she can stay connected to both because they could just split directions.

Just wanted to mention that.

Yes but LB players never choose a target to burst down. Even if they do their combo on the closest target lb will still make someone out of combat or even kill. That makes her not an assassin but a burst mage.

"Yes but LB players never choose a target to burst down" Not sure what you mean. They have to use their Q proc on a target to kill them in the first place unless it's like 45-50m+ and they have full build with massive AP where just the double W could still do like 1600 (600 AP, W-R-W) before resistances.

dude do you literally understand what am I trying to say?

my english is that bad?

When you play rengar, kha zix, zed, talon, how many chances you get to kill someone? Simply, if your ult cd is up you wanna use it to kill your target, and to not waste your ulti, you usually try to kill squishy targets am I right?

when you play lb you have so much chance to burst somone. you are in trouble? Just burst someone randomly then try to escape anyway you will be able to burst someone in 25-30 secs maximum.

A LB player never waits to kill someone, they just spam their combo whenever they can safely.(UNLESS THERE IS A TEAMFIGHT) Nowadays TF's usually starts after a little poking this is why she rised so high in soloQ. A rengar, talon , zed can't do that. They have to wait for the perfect timing no not die for nothing and make the fight 4v5.

So... If LB is an assassin then Rengar,Zed,Talon are not. LB is desinged to be an assassin which she was before the little rework in season4 I guess not remember quite good, but she works as a dps-burst mage now.

no.

ADCs will have the following gameplay: dies to enemy assassin unless support saves them. also until you get saved you don't get to play. Supports will have the following gameplay: you're not the ADC's dedicated anti-assassin bodyguard and don't get to play.

To balance it they can buff Barrier S.spell. Or make an item to prevent from 1 shot fed assassin's. So this will improve game style actually. If your adc survives she will deal massive damage in a fight and carry the fight as it supposed to be. Divers and initators will be more important in this case. Gragas, poppy, xin zhao etc will be more important because you have to make a chaos in enemy deep lines to help your assassin kill enemy ADC. This will greatly improve the gamestyle.

the game style you are proposing revolves around the ADC surviving or not surviving, and about non supports having more ADC-killing power.

I do not consider a game style where one player gets to be the one that dies to everyone all the time, and one other gets locked into the role of being his protector (where otherwise he could be doing other things which are more fun) an improvement.

the other side of the equation is that an assassin is not allowed to jump on the Jax or the Olaf. Because there is this 1 target he has to eliminate and has to save everything for (also jax mops the floor with him). So the role of the assassin in the game becomes much more narrow.

I would rather have a game where no position has overbearing carrying power, but on the flip side no character gets to "be the one that dies" all the time.

my solution: Assassins are designed to "deal big single target damage". Assassins not designed to "kill the ADC and escape" ADCs are more self sufficient than they are currently ADCs do not deal overbearing damage in the mid and late game.

The issue is the squishiest and most important target is the ADC. They're also the ones with the least resistances. AKA, easiest target for said big single target damage.

proposed change:

There is less Crit on every item that has crit on it. Also less armor pen. and less attack speed.

This nerfs ADC's late game. now they are less important.

Buff mid and early game accordingly.

If a fed assassin oneshots you, that's your fault, and maybe slightly your team's fault (in the case where you were with your team but they missed a peel spell or such), but still mostly your fault.

Elros Thranduil1 votes

This isnt logical at all. Im not having problems with a fed assassin one shots me, I dont want a fed assassins still deal damage after killing me. Its nobody's fault. Challanger players also cry about fed rengars, fed kha'zixs. Because they can take down more than 1 target.

Astôlfo1 votes

It might just be me, but I don't recall Rengar having a kill-reset sort of function.

And you yourself suggested an item or such to prevent 1 shots from fed assassins, which makes no sense.

Elros Thranduil1 votes

to balance it. I suggested making assassins have more burst, but slightly buffing barrier or making a new item instead of GA because adc's have 0 deffensive items right now except GA which isnt a good choice mostly. Like Streak's gage offensive version maybe, or 30armor 30m resist and gives 5 mresist 5 armor per 1 stack, up to 7 stacks(1 stack can be triggered by a basic attack or an ability) Just an idea you know.

Astôlfo2 votes

ADCs don't need full defensive items. If they want to not die, beyond things like Maw/Sterak (still disagree on ADCs being able to abuse this)/GA/etc, they should stick with their team and play smarter/safer.

it's AOE Area of effect. Meaning damage done to a radius of a circle, line, or cone and affecting everyone in it.

not AeO.

But this, "If you somehow change Assassins damage from mostly AeO to single target, and giving their skills more damage but increasing CD's massively you will balance them. Because they are more fighter than an assassin."

Is brilliant and intuitive and what I would like to see as well. Although Leblanc's Cooldowns are very high as is. But Zed and Akali definitely need it.

Elros Thranduil1 votes

Yeah I meant AOE actually but wrote it wrong :D. Thanks!

besides,

I just want to pick assassin if I see vayne or draven. To kill hyper Carries or to kill nuke-burst mages. I want to pick assassin to kill Vel'koz. I don't want to pick assassin just because they deal massive damage. This is actually what I actually wanted to say.

There is not a gameplay about assasinating. You can kill enemy hyper carry targets simply by everyone. Or you dont even need to do it, just outplay them in a fight and Hard CC to damage dealers. People pick assassin to just deal damage not for assasinating the high priotary targers.

There are assassins in the game but they are fighters in a baloon category of "Assassins".

Talon is not tanky at all unless you build bruiser items which I have never heard of. He. Builds mostly armor pen. His job is to 1shot squishy targets while yelling ALLUH AKBAR because he usually dies afterwards.i He isn't aiming for anyone else. Lb dies idlf she doesn't escape. There is nothing scarier in lol than a fed rengar. Also stealth in lol is an unhealthy mechanic. Teemo, vayne, akali, kha'zix, and talon have limitations. Kha'zix only has 2 second and 3 casts at a time evolved an involved is 1 sec and 2 casts. Talon is only a few seconds. Vayne is 1 second. Akali is only in the bubble, Teemo needs to stand still. Rengar, shaco, and Eve have enough time to sneak behind the enemy and target the adc. Especially eve since she's always invisible. Also akali and Eve won't be reworked untill a later date. They will get their own reworks.

Elros Thranduil1 votes

I never said talon is tanky. He is not a DPS fighter but,

Lets assume there is a fed talon in our game. In a decent teamfight, he jumps when he finds a good timing where less cc will find him, he kills the target, deal massive aoe damage due to his high ad ratios, he kills the target plus takes %30 hp of enemy apc, %40-50 support if its a squishy one, and he dies. So... Is he a single target damage dealer or a aoe fighter? Zed also. He throws a shadow then press q+e randomly and he deals massive aoe damage.

there is a difference between a standart assassin player and a decent/main assassin players. Im bored to see a fed zed gets at least double-tripple in every fight.
