What makes Jhin desirable compared to other ADCs?

so Ashe/Varus + Caitlyn + Draven/Lucian + Kog'Maw/Jinx
Yup, that's why ashe is also a top tier pick. Champs like draven don't provide much utility though.
Don't you think he [Jhin] should be good at only one of those things? Like Ashe excels conditionally 1) if she lands her R 2) when she has items she can slow for quite a bit. Her damage isn't off the charts but is made up for utility. The same goes for Draven. He excels conditionally in terms of damage but has only 1 cc/slow ability to enagage/disengage which tends to not be enough.
has HIGH damage vs any other ADCs in the late game(the only one who can do that much is vayne but she doesn't have the range that jhin does) and he almost becomes a ranged assassin in the late game that can still melt a tank's health bar w/o a problem. Tanks are huge in this meta and jhin/ashe/varus has the DPS to act deal damage in the fights.
so then what are his downsides that gate him in the late game?

His attack speed remains the same, while other marksmen will be able to pump out consistent damage with higher attack speed.
His auto attack range is short (550 units), so he has to get closer to enemies to attack them.
He has no escapes (his only form of ability is a conditional movement speed boost if he gets off his fourth shot during the early game. Once Jhin buys more crit items, this becomes less of an issue).
His total crit damage is 25% weaker until he gets Infinity Edge.
His fourth auto-attack deals less damage against towers (44% damage) and doesn't apply bonus damage from his passive.
He has to reload every four shots, which makes him very vulnerable (unless his abilities are up). Unlike Graves, Jhin can't speed up the process/ instantly reload a bullet with an ability.
He is extremely vulnerable when he is using his ult. Additionally, his ult can be cancelled, or tanked.
His attack speed remains the same, while other marksmen will be able to pump out consistent damage with higher attack speed.
Lack of attack speed is made up with his bonus AD (via passive). This gets up to like 600AD late game. It is well known, in the current meta, that bursty-ness is substantially better than any AS steroids. This is why you hardly see Tristana, Kog'Maw, and even Kalista.
His auto attack range is short (550 units), so he has to get closer to enemies to attack them.
550 is standard. Only ADCs that out-range are Kog'Maw via W (which costs mana), Twitch R (costs mana), and Caitlyn passive (free which I think shouldn't be).
He has no escapes (his only form of ability is a conditional movement speed boost if he gets off his fourth shot).
4th shot and his W. He doesn't need to build AS boots (usually goes for swifties). The amount of MS is 4% per 10% of AS so via Rapid Fire Cannon he gets 12% MS which I believe is based off base MS value (330*.12)+330 = 370 (flat) This is quiet a bit seeing as though it doesn't include the % from Rapid Fire Cannon itself.
EDIT: MS is obtained on any critical hit, not just 4th shot and W. Thanks for the correction, SarcasticShepard
Reload time is 2.5 seconds which is quite a bit of time but enough time for you to reliably back off with the MS you have.
He gets the move speed buff on any critical hit, actually. Just gonna clear that error out of the way.
Ah thank you! I didn't know that. Seeing as he builds 3 crit items (IE, ER, RPC) which gives him 80% crit. So out of the 3 autos that don't guarantee crit chance, 2/3 will PROBABLY crit giving him a decent, constant MS buff. Though his crit damage is reduced, it's effective somehow.
He also gets the speed buff if his W snares a champion.
Yes, he gets compensated with raw AD because of his fixed attack speed. But this is actually one downside of him, too. Jhin gets punished by attack speed debuffs harder than other adcs.
Others will get their attack speed debuffed resulting in less dps. However, while Jhin can not increase his attack speed, he still can get his attack speed decreased. Which means that his already slow auto attacks will be even slower (less dps) and it will remove the additional AD granted by his attack speed. The result is a bigger damage loss than for any other marksman.
The number 4.
He is a good lane bully, can be a little safeish with movespeed, traps, snare. Also i think he is good for people who arent good with other ADCs. He doesny have to be right there with his team (ult and snare) . I mean his ult can be used as an engage from a mile away, thats pretty unique. So if you suck and are geting zone but something happens you can safely help.
Very tilting to kick a Jhins ass out of lane and then gank comes and he gets the worlds safest double kill.
He is a bit too good in the early game with a satisfying late game. His abilities scale with AD and he naturally scales with AD. Not to mention the mastery he chooses also scales relatively well with AD.
good CC with W which is pretty rare on a non-ulti ability for adc, ult good for utility and good damage for executing. He scales more smoothly with crit as well.
He's actually pretty fun to play, maybe cause he doesn't build the obvious Attack speed stuff and just seems outside the box gameplay.
if he's on free rotation, i would pick him. he's easy to learn, hard to master.
Hard to master in what sense? His abilities seem rather straight forward to me.
like getting the timing on your Q to insure CS kills, Aiming your W properly to ensure a stun and not just damage, E placement for defence and offence. and aiming your R to ensure kills.
Seems like fundamental knowledge to me
because he's cool unlike the rest of the marksmen
Do you mind clarifying?
Utility.
raw damage
Jhin is a pretty strong overall champion who fits into multiple kinds of compositions fairly well. All in all Jhin functions as an engage/poke champion who synergizes with his team using his W to make picks from afar so long as the enemy is marked by an ally or opening up with Curtain Call. Through the game his 4th shot deals a ton of burst damage and Jhin's high AD definitely brings that damage to reality.
He is a strong lane bully, can play a lane safely and possesses decent waveclear. His four shot combined with his movement speed steroid. passive enables him to efficiently kite in and out of combat without losing out on DPS.
His weaknesses consist of his lack of mobility, self peel, general squishiness, the fact most of his damage is loaded into his fourth shot in both his ult and basic autos. Lategame most ADC's will easily outduel him straight up simply because of they're damage per second vs Jhin's health. The focus on Jhin's ult can often lead you to being dived on as curtain call reveals Jhin's location at the very start which is in turn highly telegraphed. Jhin's grenade bounce doesn't deal a lot of damage without minions hit prior. Two of Jhin's abilities are skill shots which includes all 4 shots on Curtain Call and his W.
Jhin is one of the most reliable carries when it comes to matchups. - http://www.lolking.net/charts/bottom-matchup?region=all&range=daily&map=sr&queue=1x1&league=ranked speaks for itself.
He's got three forms of CC.
He can adapt to any composition, but flourishes in pick and seige- the most common two.
He is not outranged. Having trouble in lane? Max W. Hit three on the carry. Ult. I'm not sorry.
His weaknesses aren't capatalized on in low elo. You can easily engage him after his fourth shot, but you've run all the way behind your tower to avoid it. If you get him running- he's dead (this also means he -has- to stay and fight, which is why Jhin is so aggressive) It's also impossible for him to chase and attack anyone if his snare is on cooldown- which he needs to hit you for. His CS is also very disruptable. - but people don't often think about outfarming him.
He also gets a lot of assists- which I can't tell whether it's a strength or a weakness. I'm pretty sure Riot accounted for it when he's been balanced- but it can get him a lot of gold so he can snowball with no kills.
(Also I'm a Jhin fangirl, so I can answer that question in two ways -wiggle eyebrows-)
