Because his kit is still weak even though his W got buffed. Ratios are weak on top of the bases. R is about the only good skill he has left. Heal ratio is terrible (especially with the amp nerf), Passive ratio is pretty weak, E cd is massive (if W got more buffs then I can deal with the cd this has). You are very pigonholed in rushing cdr, but the kit barely comes online until you buy a Deathcap.

I mean, full ap seems to be fruitless

but there is not a decent AP bruiser itemnization in the game

Thats my point.

fair enough but like

Make do with what you got

I'm sick of people saying there are zero options for AP bruisers

the trick is to augment your magic damage with item 3001 item 3151 and to grab item 3025 (unless against full AP teams, though even then the passive and the armor for tower dives is nice) If you're going to auto attack often enough grab a wit's end. Other options are spirit visage, thornmail, sunfire... I think you get it, go for conqueror then secondary domination for ravenous and sudden impact or go for resolve for shield bash and revitalize Now the main drawback is cost but other than that the sustain and tankiness is pretty nice, you can definitely 1v3

Because he is gutted for regular play and op in pro play. Typical nonsense from Riot.

Basically, to be good with Sylas, you have to be really good or play really weak opponents.

I've been doing good with him when I land him in aram, got told to play him, did well for my first time on rift (against a jayce)

I think he has some room to be adjusted, to be honest. However, I do well with him also. He requires button-timing, decision making, and fairly clean mechanics to maximize his damage. Most champions require one or the other. Thus, he is not very good in the hands of the average player.

He is not op in regular play. In fact, he is really bad in teamfights, and his R is situational.

Which is why I said he was op in pro play. :) And specified gutted for regular play.

To be honest though, depending on enemy comp, Sylas can be pretty good. However, he requires a lot of a player and most people cannot do the required things to play him.

He has been given oportunities in pro play and he is still developing worse than many other utility mages. His R was the only thing decent in his kit for team fights and again is situational, depending on Rs of enemy team. He wasn't op in pro play. He was just a counterpick for CC bots.

He was strong against this composition but he was never too strong to be considered an op champion.

Champion is having a 46% top and 47% mid, but yeah he is really fun to play and feels really good to do his combos. The problem is that he is not as rewarding as many other champions who do less than him. His abilities can be easily avoided and if you manage to hit all of them with AA resets and everything, it is still not as rewarding as doing full combo perfectly with other champs.

And the last thing is that once you use all your abilities, you have to wait until tomorrow to be able to do your full combo again while you watch other champions spamming abilities and bursting everyone.

He is very frequently banned in pro play. On a highly skilled player he can be an absolute monster and is considered the most lane dominant champion to face. And yes, if you first pick him, the enemy team can pick a lot of weak-ulti champions to help hinder him.
