Does matchmaking work on the basis of our winrate?

Hey guys! I am really terrified whenever I go on a winning streak. I have noticed this happen to me countless times. As soon as I win 4-5 games in a row, I start getting matched up with bad or new players. They heavily tank my LP along with my winrate. So what i do that as soon as I hit 50%, I go to normals and wouldn't you know it I lose badly. I am really curious if it works on the following basis?

Many people have posted "confirmed" sources that YES winrate does force you into bad teams.

Your MMR goes up when you win. In order to average out your higher MMR Riot places you with lower average players vs another team with all-around average players. This forces you to carry those guys who are worse than the other side. I just know anytime you google it, this explanation always comes up. Doesn't necessarily mean it is right, but it seems to be right. Even though it makes no sense at all. It just seems like a dumb construct to lock people into 50%WR.

First of all, your normals matchmaking is entirely separate from your ranked matchmaking. Second of all, partially. Matchmaking is based on your matchmaking rating, or MMR, which fluctuates based on a lot of things, but winrate is definitely one of them. As for why you notice that pattern, a lot of it is likely confirmation bias, but some of it is probably just you meeting your own expectations. You expect to lose, and then you lose. So stop. Don't do that.

Any matchmaking having anything to do with winrate is dumb AF as are the people who include that as part of the algorithm. It is a slap in the face to any competition as well as another means to encourage toxicity. There is absolutely not one good reason under any circumstance for this to even be a thing. It caters to shitty players so they can win games when they get put on the team doing the wipeout and that is exactly what this system creates, wipeouts. RIOT is delusional if they think otherwise.

its partially winrate but includes a lot more then that, i dont know if riot has ever given out the formula to calculating ones MMR but they definitely have some hamster contraption running in a back room somewhere to spit out the numbers
