how come the is no dedicated Support who deals Physical damage?

every few games i think about this, particularly when Mid, Top and Jung are all champions who deal Magic damage, and the only person on our team who deals AD is Jinx or Jhin or something (it happens surprisingly often to me)

the first thing that jumps to my mind is that every support i could pick also deals magic damage making it incredibly easy for the enemy team to itemize against us

i know its a kind of silly thing and i could come up with one or two reasonable arguments why there isnt one but its always been a point of curiosity to me

as a support, it's generally not your job to deal damage. And yeah, unfortunately a lot of players don't really take ad/ap comp into consideration when choosing a champion and just choose who they want to play.

AD champions, with sheer fact of being AD, get access to crapton of DPS Rito can't really take away from them. Combining this with high utility/lockdown potential is usually not something you would want to do - notice how there are also few AD tanks(vanguards and wardens, juggs do not count here, they lack utility usually).

Just imagine if Sona with all her chasing potential, lockdown, burst and sustain was also free to build AD - that would be basically ranged AD Master Yi with AOE stun.

Not fun.

Of course, now she can build AD, but her abilities won't benefit from it, so AD Sona is basically not a thing - she will lack burst, arpen won't benefit her as much etc.

Poppy has some AD damage and is quite a strong support.

You could try Renekton support...It can work with timing and coordination with your ADC.

The logic I've always seen is that it gives the traditional bot lane both AD and AP damage. Since people tend to have more armour than AP, it makes it so your support damage isn't completely irrelevant as soon as someone gets a chain vest :P

There are no supp items that give ad. IF riot were to introduce an ad support, they would also have to introduce like 5 or so new items.

RITO doesn't wanna to boost the AD supports - if you lose the lane, you are gonna play vs 2 fed botlane carries , not 1. Imagine bruisers with CC going bot and not gimping their dmg and tankiness by going for sup items... Do you think that will be balanced?

No, mostly magic. All their spells are magic damage, Leona passive is magic damage, and Thresh auto-attacks have a magic on-hit damage, so even his attacks are partly magic.

he is the prototypical physical damage support and probably the best one out there seeing as no other support lays down as many wards per game as he does.

He's not a damage dealer, but then again he isn't supposed to be, and a support is about utility most of the time.

That said: There's no such thing as too much AP, as long as you have an ADC on your team. If they itemize for magic? Your ADC pops them like a bunch of balloons.
