I feel like if this was a drinking game everyone would be dead from alcohol poisoning...
I wouldn't. I'd play ADC and let Janna with Ardent Censor save me and alcohol would die from human poisoning.
lol riot completely fucked this season up and they have had ample time to try and fix it and they didnt. A bit sad really.
why fix solo queue when you can have really fun to watch worlds games? Come on dood! ESPORTS! TRISTANA PENTA! KOGMAW PENTA!!!!!111 ESPORTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

PENTA!!!!!111
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Fixed that for you.
Idk how that works without the hypercarry take away ardent Censer and Hypercarries still do that just with less healing
Dood...are you a prinny?
Does anyone remember when Redemption was always the first item? How about when Mikael's was always the first item? What about when Locket was always the first item? The problem is people only see supports as a means to buy an item advantage. People are not picking the supports base on what the supports can do but rather what item they can get first. Even if we nerf Ardent into oblivion it will just switch to a new "must rush" item until supports kits are made to matter for their kits and not the items they buy.
But it wasnt always the first item. When Redemption was a STRONG item, it was still taken after picking up your gold generation item and sight stone, and if an off meta support was taken, it wasnt picked up by them, they went locket or something else.
Even more so with mikaels. but Ardent is such a hard rush, because it brings such a huge powerspike to your adc, and if you forgo it you lose the 2v2. Every time. Even supports who you wouldnt think would pick up ardent because they lack heals/shields get it, usually by oddly structuring their masteries to include a heal. (Stoneborn pact)
Mikaels usage is a show of skill. Redemption can be played around, since it is a delayed AoE spell. Ardent is just a point and click steroid for your ADC. Literally no skill usage besides "hey guys, I have a mouse and my heal/shield is off CD"
Shit's garbage
Funny you say that because Ardent was considered a bad item until Redemption was nerfed (And it had the heal on hit back then too). I was chewed out for getting ardent first before redemption on Sona back then because "meta". Then other support items were nerfed and now we have ardent. Honestly, it's been the same story for ages. The only difference is that Coin makes gold generations so reliable (and people finally figured it out) for supports that its easy to rush a support item now. You make it easier to punish coin (say shorter pickup timeframe and shorter pickup range) and buff up some of the other support options and it'll likely fix the issue. You might even need to hurt tier 1 coin gold say to 20 to help. Nerf ardent and other enchanter items enough then no one will play them because omg Kights Vow op, or omg Zeke op, or omg ZZrot portal op.
Ardent wasn't a bad item at all. It is just that Redemption was even better.
Ikr i used to get flamed "ardent is a bad item"
nothing happens to ardent at all, others get nerfed "OMG U NO GO ARDENT RERPORT"
I like the power of support items but this expectation that your support pick is determined by which support item has the best active/passive is a really bad mentality.
they already changed this patch tho a bit
People surely stop building it.
Its still really strong though it works on yourself too which is stupid
The self buff is really only good in early 2v2 fights; it becomes useless later.
not only the self buff
35% attack speed+damage is retarded af on an adc
It is, but the buff on a support isn't going to do anything.
Holy crap I knew Ardent Censor was bad, I didn't think it was this bad. Probably because stopped playing after hitting solo and flex gold.
Worlds Patch: before 7.19 Current Patch: 7.19
Things have already changed
It is still a really good item
Not nearly as broken as it was before, though.
Not soon enough.
Because they couldn't straighten that item out, we get a boring worlds.
One of the teams feigned picking Singed, and the crowd was so excited that something different might've happened... but no, he swapped to a more conventional pick.
I'm glad someone made a video for it, I've been laughing at that shit the whole time watching Worlds. I wanted to play a drinking game but realized 2 games in I would be dead by the end of the first day. This is a Worlds I don't think anyone would be upset to see a random hotfix in the middle of, but we all know that won't ever happen.
It's honestly a shame that 7.18 is the patch that worlds is being played on. There have been several really interesting games so far but it gets tiring seeing the same bot-lane matchups of hyperscaling adc paired with the shielding ardent support. I know lcs isn't always the pinnacle of champ diversity but it's gotten to the point where teams are at a significant disadvantage if they choose to break from this trend.
It's just sad to watch when aside from GBM being crazy you can almost call out every teamcomp based on the bans. Worlds doesn't usually have a ton of variety, but this is extreme.
When the highest win rate build is to take gold gen runes just to get an item quickly, it's pretty clear there's a problem. Not to mention foregoing

P.S. This is a joke about how some people would actually claim
is fine by having a terrible argument.

"inaccurate source" like fucking worlds matches, and month of bot lane wrecking solo que.
sure thing buddy.

In case people haven't noticed yet, it's sarcasm. Why would you take me seriously if I have absolutely no evidence on my part to back up my claims lol. If someone says "Something something" followed up by words or short phrases, it's a joke about how some people would actually support an absurd claim with a bad argument.
Now I feel stupid for having to explain a joke.
Part of what made Ardent so good was the life drain on hit. This effect alone was so strong that it completely changed how ADC's Itemize, and basically turned the ADC SUPPORT Combo into a ticking timebomb. That one Item was all it took for the adc to come online.
With that effect removed, I expect the item will not remain the powerhouse that it was. Also, with the new runes, and riot's plans to buff anti-carries (Assassins, Divers, Certain Burst Mages, Certain Juggernauts), alongside the possibility of shield spam being modified, this issue should be well on its way to being resolved by the time next season starts.
I'm just glad Taric is getting played now when the Janna and Lulu are banned.
No wonder RIOT is losing their fucking playerbase.
Can you prove this? Or are you just making claims?
Its hard to graph something such as a player base, but in general a lot of "veteran players" Are simply quitting because this meta isn't fun and riot has been slowly pushing adcs to be the number 1 priority in every game
Source? Or are you taking the 'i have played since beta and I quit cause this game isn't fun anymore' threads that show up every other week.
You can calm down there buddy. Read the first sentence. It is HARD to graph the player base because people quit and people join daily. But you have to take into account the amount of people who HAVE retired due to the game losing its fun. I can provide people that have retired IF YOUD LIKE. [poppy-wink]
Source of veteran players quitting this season?
I have said it multiple times: Season 7 has the worst meta ever.
ADCs killing asassins, ADCs playing with 8-9 ítems because some support ítems beneffit the ADC more than the support that buys it... "ADC 2k17 lulz", indeed.
the worst part is

im in silver and this is the first ive heard of it. maybe you just have bad luck and get matched with the weird ones? or maybe i have good luck and get matched mostly with actual people with an IQ in at least the double digits
Well lucky for you we're on track to the change bukkake that is preseason
What a great montage. Talk about support diversity
When supports are finally strong and meaningful... Cry for nerfs. Why not keep mouth shut and hop on the elo train?

Because it's not that supports are strong and meaningful, it's an item that makes the job for them, I want to see more supports like Leona or a Braum (for example) rather than the usual Janna & Lulu, it's the ardent meta, but I hope that riot will learn from this huge mistake, and starts to think for a proper balance for supports and adcs as well.
When supports are finally strong and meaningful...
Reminder that more supports have victorious skins than midlaners.

I forgot that just because someone has a bunch of skins they're supposed to suck! Haha, I'm being sarcastic; However, this would explain why Annie is pretty terrible.
