the following champions make veigar sad

result in happy veigar - Zyra Ziggs Velkoz Xerath Cassiopeia Karthus Singed Skarner TwistedFate Syndra

so now can we understand why veigar is sad right now? because the most popular champions walk all over him, and the champions hes decent against just aren't picked enough to warrant picking veigar without hurting your team.

veigar just doesn't have the capacity to deal with fast past champions or general tanks, he needs a team to engage and peel for him so he can do something at all, otherwise hes just a sitting duck.

if veigar doesn't fall too far behind early to xerath's Q harass, veigar can just flash ult him when he pleases, granted veigars flash isn't always up, but its definitely not difficult for me to pummel a xerath.

Veigar can only flash ult late-mid game for 100-0, and if Xerath has item 3157 /item 3102 ...

Not to mention Xerath would most likely be with other people, meaning Veigar would need a good engage, otherwise he'll just trade kills or just die himself, if Xer has one of those two items

yes im aware, what you describe is counterbuild which is a very real thing and undermines veigar.

Even without counter building Veigar, a good Xerath should wreck a Veigar, provided the Veigar isn't much better than the Xerath.

He should, good Xeraths would wait for Veigar to launch out his Q, then land a free Q on him, due to the casting animation, or zone him out with the charging animation.

what if i said i run MS quints on veigar? and plan on dodging things and i see you charging your Q and i actively predict where you aim your Q?

;-; Thought 5.4 nerf made Racecar Vei unviable ;-;

nd plan on dodging things and i see you charging your Q and i actively predict where you aim your Q?

Then Xerath denies you farm just by charging Q

all opinion and skill matchup, ping etc etc, i will say though in my experiences against xeraths, i have the upper hand because i make them blow through all their mana on me or the wave, and when they have to choose i come out ahead, every time.

;-; must be some bad Xerath ;-;

Xerath has the clear advantage in lane

Funny, I just played a game against Xerath as Veigar. I got rekt in lane, was forced to miss quite a bit of CS. However, he let me catch up, so I was able to crush him later on

Most of the champs you listed are assassins or bruisers, who are meant to beat mages. If mages were allowed to sit back and spam low cooldown spells over and over without any kind of risk, they'd be broken.

I don't get how Malz or swain beats veigar though. I've never seen this match up before, but wouldn't veigar just onesho them like any other mage?

They both aren't going to be one-shoted. They are different from other mages on their buildpath. Rod of Ages' HP pool allows them to survive the burst that other mages would not be able to survive. Also, they just dumpster Veigar during the lane phase, although Veigar can beat them during the late game. He is required to trap them on his cage, though.
