riot if you're worried about the split between solo + dynamic...

Very Hard Engage··89 votes·2,076 views

why don't you throw both up there, and let the majority of the playerbase decide what they want to do.

unless of course... you're terrified that you made a huge mistake with dynamic queue from the get go... and that mistake would be brought to light.

Because dynamic queue depends on the same group of people it screws over to keep it running properly. Without forcing solo queuers to fill for them, how are the premades going to get their games?

Irelia Bot1 votes

By having a promise of for sure getting top or mid and never support.

But then again support mains might just go back to solo since they still usually got their position most of the time. This in turn would kill dynamic even harder.

Dynamic queue and new champion select are not the same thing.

Well pardon me for not separating these 2 things that I do not like and that were added together.

I would be fine with dynamic Queue if it did not have this pick 2 position system attached to it. But I still do not like dynamic Queue compared to solo.

I am just suggesting that if they kept the "pick 2 positions" on dynamic Queue and returned old solo they might get a fair number of players willing to do dynamic.

If solo queue ever comes back, you will still be using new champion select ("pick 2 positions")

Dynamic queue will die.

If anything Support mains go dynamic Queue with their ADC premade.

That's exactly why they wont, and they know it will happen lol. We still haven't seen their precious stats that tell us otherwise, we still haven't gotten a global survey that isn't poorly worded to confuse people who don't understand the difference between champ select and Dynamic queue, and we still haven't had any meaningful communication - only lecturing about what's going to happen, and that there's nothing we can do to change their minds.

BRING BACK SOLO QUEUE

SoMNia5 votes

That's not their concern. At all. They're not going to maintain both, because that would be counterproductive, but they've already pointed out:

Prior to the launch of dynamic queue, we felt like we had a competitive ladder that over-indexed on the raw skill and individualism parts instead of naturally promoting all-around great teamplay.

They aren't interested in continuing to provide an environment that promotes self-centered play. They simply don't want to tell those players they aren't welcome, so they're trying to be diplomatic about it. It's not a mistake. It's a "philosophical difference". You know what that means, right? They know you disagree, and they did it anyway, because it's their game, and they're making it the way they want to. And when they've got Dynamic Queue sorted out and working the way they like, they're going to conclude what they've already hinted at: that there's no good reason for a second queue.

None of you salty fucking morons have any clue what you're talking about. If the game isn't fun for you now it won't be fun for you no matter what Riot does. You'll just move on to the next FotM bullshit to complain about or use as an excuse while you get your shit pushed in over and over again.

Why would they bother investing time and money into it?

Dextix LT11 votes

Into what? Soloq that already existed and still exists but is simply disabled?

Both Duoq and Soloq area already made, no need for more money to be poured into them.

Just enable both of them and lets see which one will be played more.

it was most likely deleted. Riot doesn't keep much of their old patching and they seem to work on top of the old one rewriting it instead of replacing it

GaleWinUnleashed11 votes

What company nowadays ever deletes information?

ChaoticPinecone2 votes

Its not like fitting drill bits into a drill. It might exist, but we dont know if its "disabled", if extra coding is required to allow the new queue into the old system, or if its just not compatible anymore with all the patch updates.

If every patch seems to bring a new Azir bug, I'm pretty sure that implementing the old solo would need a ton of fixes.

3TWarrior1 votes

the bugs seem to come by human error and not bad coding...somehow while they're browsing the code they accidentally change a value

PiVoRx2 votes

Everyone knows what would happen, dynamic boost would die in less than 24 hours..

Lauchmelder1 votes

Not really. SoloQ would have longer Queue times due to lack of supports (who don't want to put up with a BS toxic ADC they don't know), thus People would go back to DynQ. Let's think realistically.

SeekerofSilence1 votes

I'm a support main and last season I never experienced flaming adcs. In fact, the only games I had that contained flame was those with duos/premades.

If SoloQ appeared, I'd never touch DynQ again. In fact I've already stopped touching it...

PiVoRx1 votes

Pre s6 soloq had no isseues with times and ammount of supports since i belive nobody has anything against playing supp from time to time.

Nobody11112 votes

most likely result? both queues will cannibalize each other, with the player base split, the game will suffer more then ever and will die even faster.

ArlanKels1 votes

Do you think they have the hardware to handle that much increased activity/matchmaking?

Jefftiffy4 votes

They did last season. And they do now. The hardware has not changed. In fact the hardware was even upgraded last season. Having 2 queues just puts 2 different matchmakers running at once with different criteria to enter them. That's basically the only difference.

Meriipu1 votes

the problem is not dynamic queue it is the 10-12 current cancerchamps of the tank meta

Keevalroy2 votes

It's not even a tank meta, it's a build beefy with the overpowered S6 updated items and abuse bullshit keystones meta. It will be better next patch. What won't be better is the ranked system, and Riot doesn't seem to have any intention of fixing it - they're still in a drug induced haze or whatever the hell is going on to make them think this will be a sport that lasts generations.

Kuroi861 votes

Riot has already said Dynamic queue has issues, the reason solo queue isn't back yet is solely for the purpose of Riot trying to find all the issues in it and iron them out.

Doctor Dyment1 votes

Riot and the Boards as a whole seem to think that with a true solo queue, that Dynamic would die out. But I honestly think that both could exist. Maybe not in harmony, but both could definitely exist together I believe. All it would take would be some kind of extra incentive for solo players to play Dynamic if solo also existed, and things would probably go more smoothly.

SeekerofSilence1 votes

Remove 4-man premades from DynQ and the issue will cease to exist. :)

Zone of Endless1 votes

If Riot put soloq back it means they admit their mistake and they don't want that. They are seriously turning into Aeria with their logic now. If you know Aeria you know what I'm talking about.

ModAcademy Kayn1 votes

Too be fair, that idea is biased entirely to the idea that it will instantly fail Dynamic Que, so it wouldn't be a fair test at all.

People who don't like Dynamic Que will use the SoloQ, which will result in longer Que times for those in Dynamic, so people would either wait for the long ass Que in Dynamic or be forced into SoloQ for shorter que times. The test is biased to make SoloQ win in everyway.

3TWarrior1 votes

riot has 100 million active players...if we can say that like 5 million of those come from the US (since there is no data source to test things), if we divide that into matches, that comes to 500,000 active matches available to be made into matches at any time

with that, we already have long queue times depending upon division, but let's say that 20% of the gamers might be soloists (basically 1 in 5 people, essentially what the 4 man premade deals with as it is)

okay then, if 20% of those gamers are soloists and less than 5% of the playerbase are platinum and above(who have long queue times), won't these platinum and above players be content to move to dynamic queue AFTER they have shown their skill in solo queue instead of absolutely destroying an opposing team that doesn't know what it's doing?

so, essentially only 1% of the playerbase would be dealing with an increased queue time IF THEY EVEN CHOSE TO STAY IN SOLO QUEUE AFTER THEIR CLIMB

ModAcademy Kayn1 votes

I understood nothing of what you said.

Very Hard Engage1 votes

no they dont..... they're bracketed between servers. i could believe 100million accounts. (including smurfs)

when in reality theres only ~1.3 million ranked players on the NA server. of which, you cant reasonably expect all of them to be online at once.

not at all, if both options are presented to the players, they will choose what they want to. so long as everyone makes their immediate decision it becomes an instantly fair test to see what works and what doesn't.

what would actually happen is people would outright stop playing dynamic queue and go over to solo for the majority of games, and reserve dynamic for the off chance they want to play with friends. which isn't the majority of the time they play league, at which point they would realize that the dynamic queue for ranked is taking them too long to find a game, and then they would settle for normals together or aram.

so in reality, you can choose to have your team go into dynamic, but dynamic queue would just outright lose all of their fill members for their teams, and players who are in solo queue will get their true and fair games.

ModAcademy Kayn1 votes

You completely confirmed what I just said. Those who want SoloQ will go into the SoloQ and stop doing Dynamic Que, leaving the players who want to play Dynamic Que dealing with long ass que times either forcing them to wait with those times or have to ditch their friends and go back to SoloQ without their friends.

With what you said, not both of them are existing, you literally just killed Dynamic Que with no concern for the people who actually do like it. You wouldn't play Dynamic Que on the off chance you want to play with friends, because if what we take what you say as "True", then lots of people have left to go play Solo, drastically increasing Que times for both parties, until whoever has the lower Que time starts to ween players of the higher Que time Que, until one is completely unplayed because it's impossible to find a game. You're not giving them an equal shot, you're giving SoloQ a fricking hill to push Dynamic Que off of.

That's my problem with a lot of you solo que people. You only want you want, giving no thought to others, because it's all about me me me. You don't care for the people who enjoy Dynamic Que, who enjoy playing as a team with their friends, because before Dynamic Que, SoloQ was pretty fricking intimidating or outright terrible to play because one person could F**k up your chances to win. this season, I saw post after post about how Rank was "Too random/luck reliant to climb" due to trolls, afks, or Duos, that it wasn't actual skill to win, but the chance that your opponent got the bad players. Now those ideas are just turned into the "Whoever has the biggest Premade wins", so very little has changed, other than the word used to complain.

Very Hard Engage1 votes

dynamic queue doesn't have to fail, it just has to be proven that it never actually worked from the get go. its already a failure, thats the difference.

and the only and i mean the ONLY reason its played at all, is because there are no other options.

you are only looking out for yourself, im only looking out for myself, but here we are, a numbers game, more solo or more dynamic queue believers. who will win? solo for sure

when in reality you can still play with your friends, just not in my ranked game.

Holy mother of hypocrite.

Apparently solo queue players should value random strangers in a video game above how they choose to spend their own free time.

I don't have any obligation to fill your group. For people who want to play premade its a lot easier to get off their asses and hunt down a fifth player, I used to do it all the time when I played with friends.

The only defense for dynamic queue comes out obfuscating the actual issue here.

Dynamic queue has ALWAYS EXISTED. Any number of premade can queue into a normal and have their group filled. Nobody is trying to stop you and your friends from playing together.

This is about ranked, competitive play, which by definition requires a universal standard for comparison. Except dynamic queue has no such standard. You've got 1s, 2s, 3s, 4s, 5s, all in the same bunch.

Ranked gameplay as a 5x team, and a solo queue, makes sense, because both your situation and the enemy's are basically the same every game. Adding in random number of premade teams each time gives it this underlying wild card factor which destabilizes both the gameplay and the ability legitimately rank the players/performance.

The experience of people who reoutinely queue in at a certain number of premade will be drastically different than all others, and the reflected ranking as well. So you can't compare the gold 3 ranking of someone who goes in as a 4x most of the time, with someone who goes in as 1x, yet that is exactly what Riot is saying they want to do.

If this is the way they want to go, then normals should be removed as well, since there is absolutely no difference between the two game modes now. At least then your ranking will accurately reflect how you play as a whole, in any given situation
