So... Blitzcrank top? Could that be a thing?

When you think about Blitzcrank, you think about a support that grab people. But I'm thinking : could he be played top lane? I can hear everyone telling me no, but hear me out.

Sure, he would be constently pushing the wave with his ult passive and his grab would be near to useless. But I think he has some potential.

Since his E does 100% AD as bonus damage and has a fairly low cd (especially if you max it), it can make him do a great amount of damage. It being an AA enhanced ability gives him great sinergy with items like item 3025 and item 3078 .

Blitzcrank's buildpath would look like that : item 3009 item 3078 item 3748 item 3053 item 3742 item 3102

In the laning phase, you would probably max W first for MS and AS or E for the CD. You would trade with your opponent by runing to them with W and using E. When they go away, if you won the trade, you can follow up with your grab to continue the fight.

What do you guys think about it? Could it actually be a thing?

He could play top, but his Q would go to waste and he would jsut get shoved under tower. He is too strong as a bot pick, it even gives him the option to roam mid.

No waveclear and he doesn't need farm to be useful for his team. He is kind of predictable and there is no need to pick him over Galio or Nautilus for toplane.

Hey, anything is possible. I played Thresh top and got fed off of a fed Pantheon. So sounds good to me*[slayer-pantheon-thumbs]*

He is a so so AD brawler but the slow on his W makes it hard to be consistant against other durable top laners. Plus top has a lot of champs you really dont wanna grab like renekton or nasus.

...Why not just play nautilus instead...?

In short, yes, but with some pretty hefty handicaps you need to overcome.

His major drawback is a near-complete lack of minion squashing, but that's why you want to build one of the Hydras as fast as possible. He's also mana hungry like you would not believe, so mana is also a huge priority for him.

But yes, combined with a Sheen item and his E, Blitz doesn't need much to get 600+ damage on a Power Fist, and it's on a low enough cooldown that he can get it back every 4-5 seconds.

You could play him there, and maybe do okay sometimes. But any champion that actually strives in toplane would most likely completely wreck you unless the skill difference was huge.
