I prefer to have a Tank Meta rather than an Assassin Meta
Am I the only one?
I think that playing against assassins is boring, because when they try to kill you, there's almost nothing you can do about it.

This is the best meta we ever had.
Assassins are still playable, they just cant yolo-dive near as easily because CC Tanks are much more common.
The tank meta forces assassins to respect your front line, where the assassin meta didn't force assassins to respect anyone. The tank meta still requires your tanks to respect your carries, because if they miss key CC or aren't the first to get the good engage, they die along with everyone else. The tank meta is FAR superior to the assassin meta, and the most balanced meta we've been in so far. I hope they keep it.
if you dont agree with this thread you probably post GGEZ SCRUBS at the end of all your games. Assassin meta is probably the mot toxic meta we have ever had.
btw was there ever a mage meta? or a support meta?
I thoroughly agree. I have seen so much good since the tank meta started. Sure, a few problems arised, but this a way, way, way better than assassins left and right.
Riot sure loves to throw in the word "counterplay" when dealing with things like Zilean or Veigar but not when it comes to champions that can instantly kill you without you being able to do anything about it other than stay the heck away (then there's scum like
) or hope your teammates with cc save it for them (a fantasy in my ELO).
I understand Assassins are needed to avoid the adc from roflstomping everything, but the concept of someone being able to kill you without you being able to do anything about it is inherently toxic, In my opinion.
You can do something about tanks.
You can't do anything about assassins.
Therefore, tank meta is VASTLY better. ~Uiru
The assassin meta was a pain in the ass because of what the role was defined as. If they didn't instantly kill someone and get out basically unscathed, they were doing their job wrong.
I feel like assassin meta just becomes a battle of mechanics/reactions/ping, and fights are just chaos where everyone just tries to kill everyone. There's actually strategy to a tank meta
There really isn't a tank meta so to speak. That would imply that the best and really only viable options in many positions would be tanks and it is simply not true. The people who complain about the tank meta are mostly upset that they can no longer insta-pop whoever they please. The current "meta" is pretty balanced honestly. Once the sej nerf is actually implemented the jungle will be able to be a bit more diverse. And to those who think only tanks are viable, why did rek'sai get nerfed again then? And people like rek'sai, vi, and to an extent lee sin(if he is actually good at lee) are still great jungle champs. You just can't build them like an assassin anymore. Bruiser vi is still terrifying. Rek'sai still brings great ganks and scouting while burrowed. Lee sin is still a pretty safe early jungler and ganker. Heck even kha is fairly useable, although not as much in pros since he is still easy to focus down. You can still play assassins mid, they are just no longer the best choice in every lane. You don't have to run tanks top, bruisers and some mages still work. There is no tank meta, tanks are just finally able to be used.
The only reason I dislike the tank meta is that I can no longer 1hit someone with ap Caitlyn. :<
The tank meta is way more healthy for the game and it makes every stage of the game more interesting and more fun to play. It also makes a lot of champions way more viable, especially ones with longer cooldowns that can now actually get 3-4 of one skill off in a teamfight rather than just making 1 play with one rotation and getting a kill.
I used to like assassin meta because of the fact that teamfights lasted 2-5 seconds. That was before I'd played much in tank meta
I LOVE TANK META, because I love the strategy within the teamfights, that now last 5-20 seconds, up to 40 if you chase like a lot. Its a ton of fun because now its a sustain fest (lets face it, a Naut/Voli vs Mao/Sej is a pretty pointless battle, but its so fun to watch tanks go at it for minutes)
I was one of the first to experience this META on the PBE with all the change rolling out. I had so much fun playing as trundle and out dueling half the enemy team not because i just face rolled but because I managed to out play and outsmart because i had more than 0.5 seconds to see the situation fold before my eyes and react.
I remember a most of what happened that game but I know i had the PBE Cinderhulk which was were most of my damage came from seeing in hindsight.
I ganked bot as jungle Trundle, killed leona, and fought off enemy counter gank by Maokia. My adc and support fought him off with and we pushed their tower and killed enemy caitlyn. I was low on health but healed off of the next wave and krugs. Went back into lane and Mao was with cait. I instantly jumped on her sticking until she went under the second tower. It just so happened that another wave was moving in as i dived her and I would hit her, than kill a minion, her than a minion until she died.
Went back for krugs, killed them again, but this time moa and leona were here and my trist. We had a good ol slug fest but i killed Leon a again and out trist go out from out raka saving her with her ult. Me and moa duked it out for another 30s i think until cait came back. So i rushed the tower took it out, ran back for another round on krugs, took most of red (cait and moa was still chasing me) took birds ran past mid took that wave and took wolves then recalled for my Ravs.
At that moment i realized, things had changed. Me and moa never died those fights. We just beat each other sinceless healing until I ran away.
Someone say tanks?

Personally, I think Assassins have had it too EASY the last few years. Now they need to stop and think before they dive instead of being able to just faceroll with a 1-kill lead without repercussion.
I prefer it, but I want mage meta. =( As it is, mages don't deal enough damage to be "necessary". In fact, it benefits you more NOT to have a dedicated mage. RIP Ahri =( Now comps are: ADC, Support, Tank, Tank, Bruiser/Assassin
No, you're not. However I'm not an assassin mainer.
You obviously weren't around in Season 2 aka "League of Tanky DPS"
Assassin's were kill able tank meta is impossible if you don't have the same amount of tanks
i think you're referring to the meta-golem tank back in s2/3. that was not fun.
but over the course of 3 or so seasons. with all the damage dealers doing insane amounts of damage and tanks falling out of flavor.
the shift to bring power back to the frontliners recently has brought a great 'balanced' feel to the game. least now your tanks can actually do work and well, tank.
-AD Marks(wo)men can still deal decent damage to the enemy frontline. not advisable, but much better now then before when all they needed was a pickaxe and zerker greaves. sad time to be building defenses.
-as for supports? same as always i suppose. but favors the tankier lineup of supports. or should i say support.
.
but not gonna lie. Riot pushed out all the pokier supports out of flavor. aka
. and most recently
.
imo
was great as is. i thought she was great before the rework too. but meh/
-as for
. they can still flank around. and do their stuff.
but with that
lurking around and
. they have to find the right moment to go in.
which can FINALLY justify why they had so much mobility in the first place.
-and finally. mobility creeps.
just because tanks are now tankier doesn't mean Riot can just go and turn this game into tag.
remember when
was abused in every game? tag Q on the right target. win game. miss? try again in 3.
with the recent release of
.
it's definitely not looking too swell.
oh well. good job Riot. looking much better now than the beginning of the year when your *cough/ balance team?!?! O.o?! was practically braindead with nerf/buff numbers on multiple champs.
TL;DR 'Balanced' Meta not 'Tank' Meta. 'Tank' Meta was when Atmogs was around. THAT, was 'Tank' Meta.
I think we need to get away from this being 'tank-meta' this is the 'don't suck at your champion and play into your/against their team comp-meta'
aka.
The League of Legends meta where you can actually play whatever you want (by the end of the year we'll be getting close.)
Nothing like having a Sejuani get 2 early kills and then being able to stick on top me for the entire fucking game
BEST FUCKING META WE EVER HAD. AMIRITE? /s
