Stop being the "ONE PING" guy. "I did ping!"

Occams Raiser··1 votes·970 views

It is possible that I had something else on my mind at the time of your ping or I thought it was for someone else. I don't play with my screen locked. it is possible I was looking to see where else I could make a play. Pings work decent when I am looking at the minimap but sometimes I am not. ONE PING DOESN'T CUT IT SOMETIMES! Ping 3 times. There is a happy medium somewhere between WAY TOO MANY and one. If I say you didn't ping, you must have pinged once in an area I wasn't looking.

If you are a ganking jungler, it BEHOOVES you to ping until you get bot lanes attention. You don't want your time wasted do you? If there is a missing enemy and you say enemy KAT roam to bot lane.... 2 missings in your lane and 1 ping to bot. Maybe they are just taking drag, maybe she is simply warding, OR MAYBE THEY ARE POSITIONING FOR A 4 MAN GANK WITH A POSSIBLE TP GANK FROM TOP TO SMASH BOT FOR A DOUBLE KILL AND A TURRET! I don't know... I'm not a mind reader, but I do know that it deserves more than "I did ping (once)."

Don't be that guy.

You what i loathe more than no pings?

People who SPAM PINGS. You have no reason not to ping more than once; Your team should be paying attention to the damn sound and using their peripheral to see where the ping IS.

Your entire rant is focused around "im not paying enough attention to my surroundings". Learn to split your attention; its a valuable skill in reality.

Except pings also appear in the chat, which you should also be paying attention to.

Standard procedure is

"Coming lane" ping engage

So you have never seen an ambiguous ping? You look in the chat window. you see an out of context ping

I do consider 3 the magic number. I ping 3 times when enemy is missing and I 3 "careful" 3 times as well.

But I usually ping "on my way" once.

You'd rather have the person that hits the ping limit every time something happens? 2 should be enough

we agree on 2

Learn to pay attention.

Don't be that guy that doesn't see my point. Read the whole thing in context.

I read it. You want people to ping more than once because you don't want to pay attention and listen for one ping.

Yep. that is what i said alright.

One ping - suspicion Two pings - I know full well what my lane opponent is doing Three pings - why the hell are you not paying attention? Four-Six pings - he's in the damn bush you dimwit.

That's my guide, "How to Ping and What They Mean."

You should have your volume on to hear the ping, which is an unusual sound that should be grabbing your attention.

In most cases, I ping twice for a missing ping, or I might ping 3 times if I see a gank coming to someone and they aren't reacting.

Rarely is pinging multiple times good only because far too many people just get pissy about it, and they go on some sort of mini-tilt, then die because they stopped paying attention to anything but being annoyed at you specifically (I see this far too often).

It isn't someone else's job to pay attention for you, so if they ping you, and you don't pay attention to the minimap, the ward someone just walked over, or the ping called, then that was 100% on you. They tried to warn you and you didn't pay attention.

Also if multiple people are missing, like your bot example, one or two pings should matter. The amount of pings shouldn't mean the amount of people. The point of the ping is someone is missing. If you ping that at bot, it isn't hard to look at the minimap. Can you see 1 person, 2 people, zero people?

All I'm saying is, don't go blaming someone else because you have no awareness, and can't listen to a ping, and want people to spam pings at you for every instance of anything that happens on the map. It is honestly really easy to pay attention to the minimap, and I don't get when people want you to spam 20 pings at them, cause most of the time people still don't pay attention anyways, or they have no clue what you are pinging, so...just pay attention is all I'm saying.

Whether you should ping once or multiple times depends on urgency and current mood of the game. If they're missing for 10+ seconds, spam the ping. If they're going bot, and bot lane is in a 3v3, then spam ping so they can know it and hear it while they're fighting. Top lane is calm, bot lane is calm, mid lane is calm and your laner is missing? One ping will do the trick.

It's a learned thing. Also involves some common sense, which many people lack.

I ping a minimum of 2 times and a maximum of 3 times.
