Why not just keep legacy cursor?
I find that it makes no sense to force players onto the new cursor, when they don't like it. It's like a café removing their most popular signature dish and for something that most people won't ever order over the original dish. The amount of backlash generated was a clear sign that people did not want to adjust to the new cursor, which is entirely reasonable, because if you spend 5+ years playing with the legacy cursor, how alien would the new one seem to you, and how long would it take you to adapt to it? It also affects gameplay; it's very distracting to have something foreign on your screen.
Is it really that expensive to keep the legacy cursor? Why remove it in the first place? I feel like Riot is starting to make some changes that either shouldn't be made, or were not ready to be made. Take the legacy client, for example. The new client is very aesthetically pleasing, but lags my computer to high heavens.
Or TT; I would've understood if they removed it after a last-ditch effort to save it, but no specific patches have been added to this game mode for are least three years, and it feels like Riot decided that instead of trying to do something to preserve this game mode, they're going to just throw in the towel and toss this game mode into the garbage bin.
Patch 9.14 was also a nightmare. The "report bugs" section of PBE had lots of useful data, yet they chose to release the patch instead of fixing it and releasing it at a later date.
Riot is also just shitting out these new champions instead of fixing the old ones. With a champion pool of 144, there are more than enough champions to go around for everyone, but maybe it's time to invest more resource skills in fixing up champions like Galio, or doing VGUs on stuff like Leprechaun Veigar.
While I love some of the stuff that Riot has been doing, such as Dark Star Cho'Gath and how the profits were donated to a good cause or the Odyssey and Star Guardian missions, I really hope that Riot slows down with the release of new content like the missions and mission passes. We don't need constant shiny changes to the game, some of us just want to preserve the things that made us fond of League, and I think for a lot of us, the legacy cursor is one of those things.
When I look at the state of League right now, I feel like I'm watching it slowly become a scenario where the ship of Theseus becoming an increasingly more accurate comparison for it. What I was used to is slowly being replaced, and I don't know if this is the same game that I found very fun and unique anymore.
Please keep legacy cursor, not everything has to be brand new to be great.
