Nasus counters please?

I can think of teemo if he can keep him under control early. I like gnar against him as when since he can kite him well with phage + frozen mallet. Any others? I dont exactly enjoy fighting Nasus, and feeding him isnt exactly my idea of fun either.

Respect the fact that Nasus wins half of his lane matchups at level 6, and respect the fact that he wins all lane matchups at level 11. For the most part, you have to realize that Nasus is going to farm, and that he will do damage. In return, he's going to deal less damage then a Darius or Garen.

Your main options are to go for early game and try to win lane, or go for late game when Nasus starts falling off. Ignore everyone saying Riven is a good matchup against Nasus. Ranged champions are risky, since Nasus gains kill potential at 6, but aren't bad. In general-

Olaf True damage ignores his frozen heart rush, Ragnarok ignores his wither. Probably the hardest Nasus counter.
Quinn You're a jerk for playing Quinn, but she has incredibly strong matchup's against most melee champions.

Then there's just the generic Fiora / Gangplank who ignore armor. Then Garen and Darius bully him early game, and are more useful late game.

Nasus ends up winning most matchups given enough time because of his Q farming; as he reaches higher levels of farm, his sustain reaches the point where if he isn't cc locked and killed in that time frame, he becomes impossible to kill.

That being said, there are tons of champs that can keep him down for large portions of the game; Slythion mentioned a lot of them. But realize that unless you can ALWAYS keep nasus from getting any farm, eventually he will be able to fight you. At that point, it needs to become a team effort to bring him down.

So then teemo is my best bet?

I cant really do riven > nasus. For some random reason his e does 1/6th my hp on cast early. Or at least the last time i went into nasus as her.

His E's cast animation should give you enough time to E yourself, which should absorb all if not most of the damage. Forcing an early game nasus to E is the best thing you can do, as it will push his wave and use up the majority of his mana, stopping him from getting Q stacks. If it is that much of a problem you may want to consider sacrificing those early damage marks for magic resist runes, but it's up to you. I'm quite a terrible Riven player myself, but as a Nasus that's usually what I see rivens do. Edit: Forgot to mention that your E is also useful for getting out of his E, which reduces armour. People forget about that a lot

Pantheon.

  • Vayne , but that's too much of a specific 1v1 counterpick disregarding team comp.

  • Riven, slow does nothing to her, shield allows her to block nasus e and trade favorably all-in. Strong early game allows her to zone nasus out and prevent him from stacking q. Mobility to roam when nasus is stuck farming at top cuz he's weak and slow early on.

  • Renekton sustain and harass. Strong early game to bully and zone nasus out.

I would personally go Gnar. I do have some Bias as I main him, but you out value him at all stages of the game. You have really good kiting and late game you have one of the best team fight engaging kits in the game with hop/crunch combo followed up with ult Q W. So much free damage on top of CC.

Nasus main reporting in. I've played against all of these champs many times and I have some opinions. Some good info in here, but also a lot of stuff I disagree with. First let me point out some of the ones that people have pointed out that are either wrong or exaggerated.

Teemo The most you're going to do is annoy him. With jungler help you can maybe push him out of lane, and drop t1 tower. That's the best case scenario. Once he gets SV he can just kill you, and while you can slow his stacking you can't stop it or kill him. He will be more useful at splitpushing AND at teamfighting than you once he spikes. I see people make this mistake all the time, Teemo players are free wins.

Illaoi Huge mistake. Illaoi thrives off of winning trades and shutting down all ins. Nasus doesn't want to fight you. He wants to farm. And he can get stacks off your tentacles. Nasus counters the shit out of Illaoi.

Lulu Not enough damage. Nasus will start Doran's and get Cowl first back then farm and ignore you.

Jax Wither DESTROYS Jax. If you get ganks and get fed it's possible to bully Nasus severely, true. But if it's a 0/0 kinda lane you are not gonna win that by yourself. And Nasus is one of the few champs that outscales you and can shut down your splitpush. Don't do it.

Riven You will control the lane, for sure. But unless you're 100% sure you can outplay and kill your opponent before he completes an armor item, don't do it. Riven goes splat to stacked Q's, she won't be able to duel a Nasus with IBG even if she has a CS lead.

Vayne So you harass with autos. That draws minion aggro and pushes the lane. Then you get withered, ganked and die. If his jungler is afk this can work, but I don't recommend it.

Olaf Nasus cannot fight Olaf before 11. But again, Nasus doesn't want to fight. This will be an uncomfortable lane for him because of how safe he has to play, but Olaf is not going to shut down a Nasus.

Garen Not a fun lane, but not scary. You have to play extremely defensively, but you'll still hit 300-350 by 20 minutes, so Garen doesn't shut you down at all.

In terms of champs that can make it impossible for Nasus to farm and ruin his day?

Pantheon Fiora Kayle

Panth and Fiora should be pretty obvious. Kayle is one that a lot of people overlook, but she's a hard counter. Nasus might as well go farm jungle. I will usually dodge rather than lane against these three champs.

Gnar Darius Renekton Quinn

These are all pretty rough, just not AS bad as the three above.

Trundle

Trundle is a weird one because he doesn't shut down Nasus as hard as others, but he can duel Nasus pretty much all game if he has ult. Trundle shuts down Nasus splitpush single handed, there's no way to get past this guy if he just sits top lane. If you're pretty sure your team can win 5v5 (you have a comp that can kite Nasus, for example), Trundle is an incredibly solid pick.

Karma top could work against him. She can bully him early before he gets SV, and the best part is her shield works on minions. Just E a minion before he Qs it and that's 3 stacks denied. If you max E second, he should never be able to kill you and you can deny his stacks a lot longer.

well i used to Nidalee top vs nasus VERY well in season 4... (i could keep him to 100 farm every 10 min) but after all the nerfs she got in jungle im not sure she can anymore. i haven't really tried

Irelia fares well versus Nasus, but it becomes a skill matchup over a who has a better champion matchup.

There are 2 HUGE Nasus counters.

  1. Multiple ADC comps. He can only wither 1, so the other will murder him while he murders the withered one.
  2. He plays like a bitch. He farms and farms until late game when he's a monster. Play a ROAMING top laner. Irelia, Akali, Malphite, etc. and the minute you hit 6, give him lane and repeatedly, endlessly, and brutally murder his family. Make every fight a 4v5 because he's freefarming top and you're with your team. His team will get mad at him because he's not joining, the rest of your team will snowball because they're getting kills and objectives, and as long as you play fast enough, the timebomb won't explode.

TL;DR: Give him lane post-6, murder his team repeatedly, snowball your team, and play like he's a timebomb waiting to explode. (kog, veigar, etc.)
